Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Little Interruptions

The living room was buzzing with LEGO chaos. Xavier, Xia, and Xayden were deep in their own world, laughing and shouting as pieces clicked together.

Yushen and I had just returned from our quiet balcony moment. Our hands brushed occasionally as we walked in, sharing a small, warm smile.

"Mom! Gege Xavier! Look! Look! It's sooo big!" Xia squealed, holding up her LEGO tower, wobbling dangerously.

"Whoa! That's taller than mine!" Xavier laughed, carefully stacking another piece.

Xayden, ever the careful twin, frowned and shook his head.

"Nooo! Gege, you put it wrong! See? Like this!"

Yushen crouched down to Xayden's level to help steady the base, and I leaned against the sofa, enjoying the chaos.

But then Xia's eyes widened. She pointed toward Yushen and me, whispering loudly enough for Xayden to hear:

"Mom… are you kissing him?"

Xayden gasped dramatically, covering his mouth with both hands.

"Yeah… you're kissing!"

I immediately held up my hands, smiling nervously.

"Noooo! We're not kissing! We're just… talking quietly," I said, trying to keep it casual.

Xia scrunched her nose and crossed her little arms.

"Hmm… hmm… I'm watching!"

Xayden stomped his foot lightly.

"Yeah! You can't do weird stuff!"

Yushen chuckled, scratching the back of his neck, while I laughed softly.

"Looks like we have little bodyguards," I whispered to him.

Before we could react, Xia ran over and plopped a LEGO piece into Yushen's hand.

"Here, fix it! If you're going to be our dad, you better help us!"

Xayden shoved a tiny block toward him too, making a little dramatic "hmpf!" sound.

"Fine, fine… I'll be a proper dad," Yushen said, crouching down to help them carefully.

The twins cheered loudly as he helped stabilize the tower, clapping their hands like little fans.

"Yay! You're our dad now!" Xia giggled.

"Don't break it!" Xayden added, still half worried but smiling.

I watched quietly, my heart swelling. Their reactions weren't rejection—they were pure 6-year-old curiosity and testing, playful and innocent.

"Mom! Look! Daddy made it super strong!" Xia squealed, pointing at Yushen's handiwork.

"Wow… thanks, Daddy!" Xayden said, giving him a little high-five.

Yushen smiled softly at me, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Looks like we're officially part of their world," he whispered.

"Yeah," I whispered back, smiling. "Officially… little bosses and all."

The room was filled with laughter, tiny hands moving, and the warm, messy chaos of family life. Slowly but surely, Yushen was becoming part of our little team—one LEGO piece, one shared giggle, and one innocent cheer at a time.
