Chapter 19: The Blueprint of the Eternal Lock

The shop was quiet, but the air still felt heavy with the scent of ozone and burnt leather. Rahmat Ali sat at his bench, his eyes fixed on the silver scar on his palm. Maya stood by the door, watching him with a mixture of fear and newfound respect.

"You're not just a cobbler, are you?" she asked softly.

Rahmat sighed, picking up a piece of charcoal. "I was just a man who fixed shoes, Maya. But the universe has a way of finding people who know how to mend things."

He began to draw on a scrap piece of parchment. It wasn't a normal shoe design. He drew gears that looked like stars, soles that curved like the horizon, and laces that seemed to weave into infinity.

"To stop the Void King, I cannot just sew doors shut," Rahmat explained, his charcoal scratching against the paper. "I must create the Sole of the Gatekeeper. A pair of boots that can lock or unlock any door between worlds. If I wear them, I can control the paths. If he gets them... there will be no world left to save."

"But what do you need to make something like that?" Maya stepped closer, looking at the complex blueprint.

Rahmat looked at the blue butterfly, which had returned to its peaceful glow. "I need three things: a piece of a fallen star for the nails, the hide of a shadow-beast for the leather, and... a drop of blood from someone who has walked between worlds and returned."

Maya gasped. "That's you, Uncle. You're the only one."

Rahmat nodded solemnly. "The craft always demands a price, Maya. But I must finish them before the moon turns black, or the silver stitch I made today will snap like a rotten thread.
