Chapter 15: The Return to Dust
Rahmat Ali ran as fast as his Star-Stitch Sandals could carry him. The white flowers—the Unknown Footprints—were fading fast as the Void King's shadow began to swallow the starlight.
"The gate, Rahmat! Jump!" his grandfather's voice echoed from the fading city.
With a final leap of faith, Rahmat dived into a swirling vortex of blue energy. For a moment, there was total silence. No hammers, no moon, no shadows.
Then, the smell of old leather and damp rain hit him.
Rahmat gasped as he found himself lying on the cold floor of his tiny shop. The morning sun was peeking through the cracks in the wooden door. He looked at his feet—the magical sandals were gone. He was wearing his old, worn-out slippers again.
"Was it all a dream?" he whispered, his heart still racing.
He stood up shakily and looked at his workbench. There, sitting exactly where he had left them, were the mysterious black shoes the stranger had brought. But something was different.
The 'open eye' symbol on the side was no longer just a stitch. It was glowing with a faint, pulsing blue light. And next to the shoes, a single, glowing blue butterfly was resting on his hammer.
Rahmat Ali realized then—the journey wasn't over. It had only just begun in the real world.
