Dylan walked toward a café just around the university, his pace steady, and Lucas followed closely behind him with Emily trailing a few steps further back. The air between them felt tense, thick with things unsaid.
He entered the café without sparing them a glance. Emily, without any concern or attempt to fix things, simply chose a seat far away from them, as though she wasn't involved at all. Lucas, on the other hand, walked straight over and sat across from Dylan at the same table.
Dylan didn't waste time. "What do you want from me?"
"I said I'm sorry. I feel really bad that I made a friend and I'm already about to lose it because I was careless." Lucas said, his face filled with genuine concern and worry, his voice softer than usual.
"Okay." Dylan replied shortly, his tone flat as he paid for the drink and dessert he had ordered.
Lucas exhaled slowly, clearly not satisfied.
