Chapter 38 - Face off Between Fathers (1)

'W-wait!'

Koji's eyes widened in disbelief as he saw Ivory get slammed to the ground by his own doing; her face was badly bruised--the redness of the bruise contrasted with the rest of her pale face.

Not to mention she was laying on the ground after jumping high and being instantly knocked down.

However, Koji wanted to scream for a different reason! His hand felt like it was completely disfigured, and as he looked down he could see how his hand was broken--the bones had separated from their usual form.

'Oh fuck! Shit, shit.... This isn't good!'

He grit his teeth and tried not to cry from the pain--suddenly, his eyes darted towards Lin--who was furious!

It was obvious, Lin's eyes were furrowed and his very being gave off a raging vibe.

"Koji, are you insane!?"

His mind paid no attention to Koji's broken hand; all of his attention was on the fact that his daughter had just been pummeled by Koji! In fact, she was even unconscious!

'Oh no, he's gonna hate me now!'

Lin tried to ignore his anger due to Koji being such a small child; however, it was extremely hard for him to--so instead, he shifted his focus and ran over to Ivory's side.

Her body was tattered in wounds and her pale arms were covered in dirt; however, the worst part was... Her leg was for sure broken!

'I-I broke her leg!?'

Koji's eyes widened in shock as he looked down at the young girls leg--just to see the abnormal appearance of it bent in a way it definitely shouldn't be!

'Lin, fuck! There's no way he gets me that Reli- wait... no, I should be concerned about Ivory... But Lin can just heal it right? No need to get so upset over it! Everything should be fine.'

However, the pain in his hand still tortured him--making it extremely hard to think clearly.

Every time he slightly moved his hand--every time he sent even a little bit of signal to his hand, it would hurt like utter hell!

'T-this, I've really fucked up--Ack! How did I mess up so horribly?! Pride, yes--it was that. I still haven't completely dispelled my sense of pride--truly, I am pathetic!'

...

'Ivory, no... Wake up sweetie'

"Wake up Ivory, come on..."

Lin desperately tried to wake Ivory--this broken leg would not be easy to heal. The leg was so damaged that it may take her a week to be healed by someone at his level; though, her other wounds could be easily fixed.

'Koji, you reckless child! Do you have any idea what you've done here? You, you should be punished for such a thing! Maybe your dad will punish you.'

Lin was completely adamant on Koji's punishment--him injuring his daughter like this couldn't be excused by anything!

"Ivan! Come out here, your son has messed up horribly!"

...

'What is that brute calling me for?'

Ivan's eyes narrowed into slits as he heard the call from Lin--of course he would be wary, he absolutely despised Lin.

'Probably accusing Koji of some shit, this brute better have a good reason for saying he messed up.'

Ivan got up from the sofa, and walked outside; his red eyes gleamed as the sun casted it's beauty upon them.

'Hm- Oh?'

His eyes slightly widened at the sight.

Koji, who was gripping his arm and breathing hard; his hand utterly disfigured. Added with the fact that he looked to be in a horrible state even despite the broken hand.

Then there was Ivory, who was laid flat on the ground with a bruise on her face, and a horribly broken leg.

'Koji?'

He observed how Koji's black eyes were holding back tears, and his gaze showed many emotions bottling up at once--Koji knew of his actions, and was utterly ashamed.

'That filthy bastard! My son is in a horrible state, just like his fucking daughter. Yet, of course he says Koji messed up.'

Ivan couldn't take it as he continued to observe Koji's pitiful state--he was on the brink of yelling at Lin; however, he tried to keep calm as he took soft footsteps towards the scene where Lin was waiting.

"What is the problem here?"

"Your son, Koji--he destroyed Ivory's leg! It was supposed to be a simple sparring match yet he just had to win at any cost! The blow that she would have sent to his head with her leg would have been greatly held back, and would never result in such a situation as we are currently in!"

Lin explained quickly and furiously, his large figure stood over Ivan like a mountain--his muscles bulged as if they were angry just like he was.

"Oh, so he won? Good job Koji."

Ivan smiled--in fact, he was very proud upon hearing this. His son decided to win at all costs, which is what one had to do. One day, it will come down to whether who can disregard the cost of winning in a fight that determines the outcome of life or death.

After all, the true nature of combat is to win. Combat, without advantages--in the first place is such an unnatural thing; however, even it has it's own nature. If one is fighting to eat the other, then the goal is to kill. Though, sometimes one is fighting to survive a killer; in this situation you also need to kill.

That doesn't mean the nature of combat is to kill, because killing is only a means to win!

Yes, winning is the nature of combat, no matter how or why you win, it is simply to win. Therefore, learning to win is the best way to learn how to fight--winning no matter the cost!

'Such a funny thing, this Lin man may be strong; however, he includes morality in conflict. However, if you are being attacked--nothing, and I mean nothing makes you a bad person! If you are threatened physically, kill! If you are chased, kill! No matter what, even if it is a woman behind the blade, kill!'

"Mr. Ivan, I am sorry, but what?"

Lin was confused--and slightly angry at his response.

Ivan's eyes flashed with unchanging strictness as Lin responded.

"You, Lin--you expect me to be ashamed of my sons actions? I am proud; you should be proud as his teacher, for he has learned the true essence of combat!"
