Chapter 31
GEORGIA'S POV
The shift in Jaime's demeanor the moment Nikolaj arrived was jarring. He closed his eyes and let out a long, weary breath, like a man realizing he'd just been caught doing exactly what he'd been warned against. It was clear Nikolaj was the one person who could actually keep him in check.
I didn't waste a second. As soon as Jaime stepped out of the study, I bolted after him—it was my only chance to escape that suffocating room.
Seeing Nikolaj in the light of the foyer was a shock to the system. Despite the visible exhaustion from his travels, he was strikingly handsome. His green eyes seemed to glow, and his brown hair was perfectly faded at the sides. He looked effortlessly high-fashion, his white T-shirt tucked into green pants that matched his eyes, a designer coat draped over his arm. Even his sneakers looked like rare, limited-edition pieces I'd only seen in magazines.
