Chapter 38 - Internal Dilemma

The wind at the base of Saebyeol Oreum bit through the air with increasing ferocity, carrying the ancient, mineral scent of dried silver grass and cold volcanic stone.

Jin-woo stood by the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, his "field uniform" a sharp and pragmatic contrast to the gilded luxury he had just left behind in the Hidden Cliff's private wing.

"Check the LiDAR sync," Jin-woo directed, his voice steady and devoid of the fatigue that should have claimed him by now.

Lee Dong-hyun leaned over the glowing monitors, his face illuminated by the flickering blue light of the data streams.

"Syncing... now. A2 cloud servers are processing the terrain data at 40 teraflops. We're seeing every crevice of this mountain in real-time, Boss."

Jin-woo tapped his earpiece, connecting directly to the A2 headquarters back in Seoul. "Park Min-jae, do you read me?"

"Loud and clear, Boss," the calm voice of the Head of Infrastructure crackled through the line.

"The GPU clusters are humming. What's the status on the ground?"

"Min-jae, keep a tight check on the data packets we're transmitting," Jin-woo ordered, his eyes tracking the 3D wireframe of the mountain on his tablet.

"I want the AGI model trained on this specific terrain data before sunrise."

"We need to run a full-scale laser simulation tonight. If we can nail the demo by 5:00 AM, we'll have all of tomorrow for final safety checks before the grand show."

"On it," Min-jae replied, his fingers already flying across a keyboard hundreds of kilometers away in the Parc1 building.

"I'll focus on fine-tuning the model. We'll have the 'Heart' cluster ready by morning."

After ending the call, Jin-woo began a physical inspection of the site, walking the perimeter of the dormant volcano.

He moved between the laser housing units, comparing the physical terrain of Saebyeol Oreum to the high-resolution data transmitted back by the A2 office.

Around him, the mountain was a hive of nocturnal activity; other teams responsible for the festival were scattered across the slopes like fireflies.

Some were struggling to assemble massive wind-proof tents, while others were testing the heavy bass of the music systems and stages where the singers will perform tomorrow.

The low thumping vibrated through the volcanic soil because of the massive speakers, and the chattering of workers around the oreum made the cold environment feel comfortable and nice to watch.

Jin-woo stopped, looking at the organized chaos of the festival preparations, his reflection caught in the glowing screen of his tablet.

"I hope we can complete the scan by morning," he whispered to himself, the weight of the project pressing on his shoulders.

"I need that buffer tomorrow to ensure the 'Digital Fire' doesn't just look real it has to feel alive."

On the other side of the island, the atmosphere was far more refined but equally high-stakes.

Eun-soo, after ensuring Jin-woo's family was settled in the restricted top floor, had bypassed her own room entirely.

Still wearing her travel clothes but carrying the aura of a Director, she walked straight into the main executive meeting room of the Hidden Cliff.

"General Manager Seo," she said, her voice echoing off the mahogany walls. "Show me the finalized VVIP list for the festival finale."

Seo Min-jae stepped forward, handing her a sleek digital tablet. "It is a sensitive list, Miss. We have the Minister of Tourism, Viktor Sokolov, and several global CEOs."

Eun-soo scrolled through the names, her eyes narrowing as she read the profiles:

Han Yoo-jin (45): Minister of Tourism.

Viktor Soko (55): International Investor.

Elise Laurent (39): Fashion House Director.

Hiroshi Takeda (47): CEO, Takeda Holdings.

Seo Jin-woo (29): CEO, A2.

Kang Ara (29): Top Actress.

Kang Min-ho (30): Heir to Mirai Corporation.

Eun-soo's finger stopped abruptly on the final name.

"Kang Min-ho?" she asked, her voice tight with surprise. "Why is the heir of Mirai coming to a hospitality event? Our sectors don't even overlap."

Seo Min-jae bowed slightly. "He contacted the staff at the very last minute, Miss."

"He insisted on a suite for the final day of the Fire Festival, claiming a 'personal interest' in the cultural preservation of the island."

Eun-soo let out a slow, troubled breath as she leaned back in the heavy leather chair.

She knew exactly what that 'personal interest' was.

Ever since their blind date and his subsequent visit to Little Mozart Kindergarten, Min-ho had been subtly circling her life.

Admittedly, he was a nice guy; he possessed a polished sense of humor and a genuine charm that most women in their social circle would die for.

He was perfectly polished, a man who viewed marriage as a duty that simply needed to be done, and clearly, he was not opposing to the idea of getting married and having children.

In his eyes, Eun-soo wasn't just a business merger she was a woman he actually liked.

Eun-soo leaned back in her chair, the weight of her dual life suddenly feeling twice as heavy as the mountain Jin-woo was currently scanning.

Should she confront him directly and tell him she was not ready for marriage?

Or should she maintain the polite acquaintance and give him and herself a chance to see if Kang Min-ho might actually be a good marriage partner?

She thought of the "Single Dad" Jin-woo and then she looked at the name of the man who offered her a life of guaranteed safety and predictable luxury.

"Manager Seo," Eun-soo said, her voice regaining its cold, professional edge.

"I have already read the list. I will welcome all these guests personally when they arrive. Make sure the arrival protocols are flawless."

Seo Min-jae bowed deeply. "Yes, ma'am. I will inform the departments immediately."

Eun-soo stood up, the fatigue of the flight and the emotional weight of the day finally catching up to her.

"Now I am going to my room. If you have anything urgent, feel free to message me directly."

"Understood, Miss. Have a restful night," Seo replied as he held the door open for her.
