Chapter 43 - A Morning for Two

Eun-soo returned to her room, the lingering scent of jasmine and the phantom weight of Jin-woo's arm still dancing in her mind.

After a long, refreshing shower, she stood before her wardrobe, her fingers tracing the fabrics until they settled on a specific look.

She chose a soft, oversized cream-colored tunic that draped elegantly over a pair of sleek, dark skinny jeans.

The outfit felt special modern and effortless, as if she were dressing not for her hotel director duties, but for a woman meeting someone important.

She checked her reflection one last time, her heart fluttering with a mix of nerves and excitement before heading down to the lobby.

Meanwhile, Jin-woo had finished a quick, hot shower in his suite, the steam helping to wash away the exhaustion of the night at the mountain.

He stepped out wearing a crisp, white long-sleeved shirt with a relaxed V-neck collar, tucked neatly into tailored black trousers.

The look was a departure from his usual rigid three-piece suits; with his sleeves slightly rolled up and a luxury watch on his wrist, he looked approachable yet undeniably sharp.

When he arrived at the lobby, he leaned against a marble pillar, his eyes scanning the area until they landed on Eun-soo as she stepped off the elevator.

He went silent for a moment, his gaze lingering on her; he found that this softer, more personal look suited her even better than her professional uniform.

Eun-soo noticed him watching her and felt a heat crawl up her neck, making her shy, yet she found herself leaning into the warmth of his attention.

She walked to his side, her voice light and playful as she glanced at their clothes—both wearing clean whites and dark bottoms. "It looks like we matched today."

Jin-woo blinked, looking from his own white shirt to her cream tunic, realizing their color palettes were harmoniously in sync.

A small, genuine smile tugged at his lips as he nodded. "You're right. We are matching."

Eun-soo looked down at them, a traitorous thought crossing her mind: Is this a couple's look? Do we actually look like a couple right now?

She quickly shook her head to scatter the thoughts before they took root. "Let's go to the second floor for breakfast. I think we both need the energy."

Jin-woo nodded in agreement, and they walked side by side toward the hotel's premier restaurant.

As they entered, the restaurant opened up into a breathtaking space—sunlight streamed through floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the polished wood and traditional Korean motifs.

The air was thick with the savory aroma of a Traditional Korean Breakfast: the steam from Miyeok-guk (seaweed soup) and the rich scent of Doenjang-guk.

Tables were lined with an array of Banchan, from vibrant Kimchi to seasoned spinach and crispy stir-fried anchovies.

Jin-woo picked up a plate, but as Eun-soo reached for one, he gently moved his hand to stop her. "Let me. Tell me what you'd like."

Eun-soo watched, her heart skipping a beat, as Jin-woo navigated the counters with a natural, protective grace.

He moved with the practiced ease of someone used to caring for others—likely a habit formed from years of looking after Hajun.

He selected a few elegant portions for her: a light bowl of soup, a delicate serving of steamed rice, and a few colorful side dishes, ensuring the plate looked as refined as she did.

As they sat down at a quiet corner table, Jin-woo instinctively pulled a linen handkerchief from his pocket and moved to place it over her lap.

He caught himself halfway, his hand hovering for a second before he spoke softly, a hint of embarrassment in his voice. "Sorry... I do it so often for Hajun."

Eun-soo's face turned a deep shade of pink; she was aware of the hotel staff's curious glances at their boss and this VVIP guest being so attentive to her.

"It's okay," she whispered, her voice barely audible as she looked down at her food, too shy to meet his eyes.

Jin-woo eventually settled into the chair opposite her with his own plate. "How is Hajun? And my parents... will they not join us?"

Eun-soo took a small sip of water before answering. "They went to sleep quite late. I checked their wing this morning, and everyone was still resting."

"I see," Jin-woo replied, and a comfortable silence settled between them as they began to eat.

As Eun-soo ate, her mind wandered back to the way he had hand-picked her food, and she found herself lost in the memory of his heartbeat from the lobby.

Distracted, a small drop of soup splashed from her spoon onto the light fabric of her cream tunic.

Jin-woo, despite his quiet demeanor, hadn't taken his eyes off her for long.

He reached into his pocket and produced a fresh, clean handkerchief, extending it across the table with a look of genuine concern.

"What are you thinking about so deeply?" he asked softly. "Did you not get enough rest last night?"

Eun-soo snapped out of her daze, her cheeks flushing again as she took the cloth. "Sorry... I was just lost in thought and didn't see the soup."

She began to wonder to herself just how many handkerchiefs Jin-woo kept on him; she remembered him having them ready back at the kindergarten, and even that time he brought her breakfast.

As she pondered his prepared nature, they finished their meal, and Jin-woo leaned back, the fatigue finally visible in the corners of his eyes. "I think I've reached my limit. I need to take a proper rest."

Eun-soo nodded, her expression softening. "You should. You've worked so hard for the festival."

They walked back toward the elevators together, the atmosphere between them now charged with a quiet, undeniable connection.

As the elevator climbed, Jin-woo spoke up. "Did Daniel Kim prepare the tour of Jeju for my parents? Since I'm free this afternoon, I'd like to join them. Could you ask him to delay it slightly?"

Eun-soo smiled brightly. "I'll tell him. Actually... I'm also free this afternoon since the main guest arrivals don't start until tomorrow morning. I was planning to go as well."

Jin-woo looked at her, his eyebrows rising in genuine surprise. "You're coming too?"

Eun-soo tilted her head, a playful spark in her eyes. "Can I not go? Is there a problem if I tag along?"

Jin-woo looked at her for a long beat, the tiredness in his eyes replaced by a flicker of warmth. "No problem at all. You are most welcome."

Eun-soo's smile widened, a feeling of pure happiness bubbling up inside her. "Okay then! Let's meet in the lobby at 12:00 p.m."

"I'll be there," Jin-woo promised as the elevator doors opened. "See you then."

"Bye," she waved, her step light as she headed toward her office, while Jin-woo watched her go before heading to his room.
