Chapter 16 - TIMESKIP

Getting out from that memory, tears streaked his face. Nelson tried to stop the flow of tears.

Before he knew it, Alex was next to him.

Ace looked bewildered and David had his eyebrows raised.

Getting up from recalling that memory, Nelson hadn't noticed, yet tears had begun to spill down his face.

Everyone looked at him wide eyed. At such a young age, that is what he had to go through?

Alex also had a tear a two in his eyes, but he wiped them. "Maybe I am in ungrateful kid."

Nelson wiped his tears. "Thank you all anyway for…giving me people to talk to. It hasn't been easy these past few days."

Ace waved it away. "I couldn't imagine something like that happening to me. I don't think I'd be able to maintain composure this long."

The doors sprung open behind them as a man and woman in suits walked closely. They had already caught sight of David and walked up to him.

"Young man, you've proven yourself elite among your peers. Were here to offer you next level intensive training for a while to build you up."

David shrugged. "Don't have much of a choice in the matter, do I?"

He then turned around, hugging David.

He had that feeling as well. Connecting with people only to lose them so suddenly, it wasn't a good feeling to say the least.

"I was hoping for more time too."

He hugged Alex and Nelson as well.

Walking back towards those people in suits, he turned around one last time.

"I will be back. I'll see you again, i promise."

Ace nodded his head "you don't have to worry, we'll personally come to you if we have to."

David smiled. "I'll take your word for it."

——

4 years later.

An armored plane with A sleek design glided through the night sky. Inside, the pilots look at their map. "We are approaching the destination. Everyone get up and ready for drop off."

eight people were were in seats in the back end of the plane. And one of them was just dragged from a memory that he was most fond of.

It had been his last sense of normality compared with what he was dealing with now.

He and everyone else stood up and put on helmets that soon connected with the rest of their suits.

Everyone else had sleek suits just like he did, with armor on all vital areas and a decent balance of room for movement.

Looking around, he sees everyone else getting near the exit, ready to leave.

As he walks closer, a man is giving mission details.

"We'll go over this one more time. A hoard of monsters have taken over a part of a city with a small population. It is our job to kill them and stay alive in the process. Simple stuff."

As everyone prepared to for the hangar to open, the man who was just talking noticed Ace.

"Hey, you're that gifted we got on our squad aren't ya? You any good?"

Ace nodded. "I'd like to this so."

"Well, just be careful then. We get a lot of people who come in and think that just because they have powers that they're some kind of special one of one demigod. I hope you're not the same."

"While I am confident about my gift, I am not a dunce. I'll play my role the best I can. I assume the same thing of everyone here."

The man who seemed to be the leader turned to someone with a more womanly figure to gauge their opinion, eventually walking over to her.

"What do you think Hana?"

She shrugged her shoulders. "I'll take his word for it. Just keep someone else in close proximity."

Just then, everyone heard something.

What looked like a cargo ramp opened. And cold wind came rushing in, though everyone barely felt it.

Looking down, one by one everyone took a dive. As It was Aces turn, His heard was pumping. "One last mission, and I'm going back to base." He already had a few familiar faces in mind.

As he was falling, he made sure to keep pace with his teammates while in the air. Eventually everyone activated the gliders in their suits, steering their falls. Once they hit the ground, they looked around.

The area they are in was a small city in Virginia. The street they were on was cracked.

Cars in the area had either been flattened, flipped or abandoned.

Richard looked to everyone behind him.

"It seems we have to look for them as well. They won't be easy to find, stay alert and bring out your weapons."

Most pulled out advanced rifles.

Ace pulled out a sword. It had a blue edge that was the primary cutting point.

"Let's move!" As they began running, they took off at supernaturally fast speeds.

As things blurred at his sides, Ace felt a sense of freedom.

He found a nearly building a grabbed onto it, running up the wall. He was using the same property in his suit that allowed him to stand perfectly still on the edge of a plane.

Looking up at him, Hana put a hand over her visor. "Are we sure he's taking this seriously?"

Turning a corner, Richard stopped everyone.

A group of monsters, some like giant insects, others like dinosaurs and vastly in between. They were in an area, likely scouting for more humans to eat.

"Everyone get prepared."

Ace looked down on the monsters and held his weapon close, Preparing to jump down in need be. The image of certain people flashed in his mind.

"I hope you're still waiting. You won't have to much longer."
