Chapter 14 - Stories

Later on in the day Ace walked to the infirmary with David close by. He taps Ace on the shoulder. "You've made quite the reputation for yourself."

Ace shrugged. "Only because I didn't want to leave you on your own." He turned to see many students looking at the both of them with caution.

They either moved to the other side of the hallway or glued their eyes to his shoes, anticipating a sudden attack of some kind.

It seemed Nick had skewed expectations to make people believe that to be strong is to be cruel. Some would probably get nervous if they approached.

"Besides, if they were afraid of Nick, imagine how they feel about the boy who almost killed him?"

"I suppose you are right, I'm quite the danger you know."

Ace put a hand over his face, hoping his feet would move faster. 'Of course he found a way to make a compliment to someone else about him.'

Getting Into the infirmary, they saw

Alex sitting casually, Shadowboxing with one of his arms partially wrapped. His other arm had healed claw scars that honestly looked kinda cool.

Nelson was able bodied now, his coordination was just a bit messed up. He kept wraps over everything but his hazel eyes. They looked quite cool to be honest.

Ace was torn between being glad they were okay as well as jealousy. When was he gonna get Character customization?

'Never thought I'd be looking forward to battle damage.'

They were doing some training just to keep their bodies in decent physical condition.

While Alex was shadow boxing, Nelson was Jump roping. The occasional mess ups did not deter him.

"It seemed you too are doing better for yourselves." Ace walked in with his hands in his pockets.

Nelson looked at David and Ace. "Well yeah, but it's not like everyone is a prodigy like you two."

"I'm a bit more glad I didn't continue my fight with that thing now." Alex said staring at Ace.

Everyone was having a mostly good time.

Alex and Nelson were on beds that were closest to one another, while Ace and David were in chair in between them.

Alex looked at Ace and had to ask: "dude, how did you get your powers? I got mines when I had to win a game of volleyball."

Ace shrugged. "Got jumped, got scared."

"As hard as it is for me to believe you got scared, I'm truly interested as to how David did."

David put his hands up. "If Nelson goes first, I'll go." Ace and Alex turned to look at him with beady eyes

"Come on man." "It's not that bad."

"Tell us". Nelson was currently trying to find a good looking spot on the roof before caving.

"Fine"

A young boy was walking along the sidewalk, holding his mothers hand. He was giddy, almost skipping with every step he took.

He had just gotten back from the park. His mother was holding his hand, smiling as she looked down at him. "Someones enjoying himself."

His father was on the other side of the sidewalk, standing by the road. "This world isn't ready for my boy."

As they neared the edge of the sidewalk, they were about to cross, when Nelson's older sister began to point at a nearby store.

"Mom, please. You won't hear from me or Nelson again if you get us something from this place."

"Sweetie I can order you snacks when we get back home. Maybe later."

Maria had her eyes on the road, trying to find out the best time to walk, and already set on pushing the button for the crosswalk.

But as Kassie hugged her stomach and looked at her with puppy eyes, a quick

"Pweese mom" shattered her resolve.

"Fine."

She turned to Nelson and realized he was doing it as well. Jacob laughed. He and his wife had no choice it seemed.

"Hey…there's a coffee shop to our left as well. This isn't all bad."

This was a bummer. Once they got some candy they would have to sit around and watch their parents do computer stuff for at least 20 minutes

Kassie: "you guys spend way too much time in there."

"Laaame!" Nelson was already dreading it.

Jacob: "Hey, at some point, you two are gonna have to learn to bargain."

Shortly after, the sound of footsteps could be heard. Everyone turned around. Men in all white metallic suits and rifles that certainly packed a punch. We're patrolling, seemingly in a rush.

The atmosphere was disturbing, as they began evacuating people from the area.

Jacob gave Maria a ghastly stare.

As they were a motion to back up, a hand came up from around the building the store was connected to. It was around twenty feet high, and as it gripped onto the building, an entire section of the glass shattered.

From around the corner came a giant creature with all black "skin" and a hooded face to where you could only see it's beady red eyes.

The atmosphere got very cold very quickly. It went from people slowly trying to walk in the other direction to fully sprinting.

Locking eyes with this creature was one of Nelson's core memories. This is where everything went wrong.
