Chapter 4 - Starting

"Hmm~."

Quash studied his status window while rubbing his chin. His eyes narrowed in contemplation. He was Level 1, which was normal. The first 16 years of one's life is the greatest time to lay down a good foundation. So everyone stays Level 1 before entrance exam rather than leveling and runing their future. Better the foundation, better long-term results after all.

His physical stats were normal, or rather below average by this world's standards.

Strength 29, in Earth terms would be the strongest human. An average adult in this world has stats between 3 to 4. 5 to 6 are fit people. 8 to 10 are body builders and above 10 are people who has cultivated their body obsessively or refined aura. That's why, despite being a 16 years old, his strength stats were higher than Earth's strongest.

Dexterity is the same. It's the stat that represents flexibility, speed, movement etc. His Dexterity is below average in this case.

Vitality represents the overall body healing power.

Endurance represents how much stress his body can take. That includes exhumation, damage, illness etc. Basically stamina, toughness, and illness resistant.

But despite his below average stats, that wasn't what shocked him, it was his Abstract Stats.

Intelligence is raw computing power, pattern recognition, problem solving etc etc.

Wisdom is the sum of the knowledge and experience he has accumulated in his life.

Will is his drive to move forward and think clearly under stress.

Spirit is the abstract force that kept him from going insane and killing himself in his previous life.

He knows a lot of stuff so wisdom is fine. He is very used to stress so will stat being high was also fine and so was spirit.

But intelligence? That was absurd. Each Intelligence stat equals to 10 IQ.

"So I basically have 980-ish IQ... damn. If I were to scream "MY 1000 IQ!!" In the Internet, I won't be lying because it is close enough... damn."

The situation felt so absurd to him that he can't help but break into laughter. He laughed very hard for dozens of seconds before stopping but he was still chuckling.

He didn't think much of IQ in general. Like Einstein said, IQ is just numbers, it doesn't represent the true intelligence of a person. He took it personally and never measured his IQ.

And besides, he himself didn't think he was that smart person. He was very idiotic. He had taken many idiotic and absurd decisions in life that costed him heavily.

He was just an normal person with good brain and problem solving that somehow lead him to creaking the code of reality in his previous life.

"Wow~. What an ego boost. Is this what psychologists call passive influence? The World is doing people dirty. Hehe~."

Quash closed his stats window with a chuckle. He went upstairs to change into some comfortable clothes he can wear for running.

He has no plan for now but rather than doing nothing, it was better to do something. So he decided to do some Endurance training.

He won't use any training ideas from the novel because all of the people mentioned in there are either monsters in what they do or obsessive freaks. He just wants a better position so he can get into a better Academy of MagiCraft.

Quash now understood why he was sweating so much and why his memories were awakened only two months before Academy entrance exams. His brain had to rewire itself and create neurons to support his brain power. Khahum must have helped by making sure his brain didn't short circuit and he went to vegetative state.

Thinking that, he silently thanked Khahum again in his heart.

Inside his room, Quash stood in front of the mirror and examined his body. His body has muscle outlines but nothing crazy. Just a body of a teenager who exercises from time to time. Quash remembers that he wasn't that much interested in training and he used to laze around. Watch Magicraft videos or random stuff.

Quash looked at his face. His skin was creamy white. He has Amber coloured hair like his mother and Ruby eyes like his father. His face was above average in this worlds standards. But if he were to go back to Earth, he would be regarded as top handsome man... or boy.

(*~*)(*~*)(*~*)

After locking his house, Quash went to the nearby park to train. Right now, it was 8 in the morning but he noticed many people around his age were running individually or in groups.

They were like him, training for the Academy entrance exams. At this time of every year, high school students who wish to take the Academy entrance exams are exempt of final exam of high school. They need to send an application at the start of their first year for processing and before two months of the entrance exam, they are given graduation certificates.

Normal students who doesn't have much talent in this regard don't even think about faking the application. The local government throughly checks everyone's backgrounds and only then are they given early certificates. If someone is caught lying, they will have to repeat the year. Not only that, lying regarding this is very much frowned upon by people and their standing in society is damaged. Effectively lowering one's chances of getting into a good university.

But that has nothing to do with Quash.

He warmed up as he walked towards the park. The park was near the mouth that connects this small lake to the real lake. The lake is named Grundleas. And this city is Grundleas city. Named after the lake. The lack is so big that it looks like a boundless ocean instead. If not for the fact that it was in the middle of land then it really could have been an ocean or sea(obviously).

From above, the lake looks like a giant eye because of its circular shape and a deep but massive, bottomless whole at the center where the water comes from. No one knows how it formed.

The lake is even called Earth's Eye officially. The first time he had seen the satellite picture of the lake when he was little, he was scared shitless and didn't leave his parents side at all that night. Thinking that demons might come out of the whole.

While reminiscing about the past, Quash reached the park and it was full of students grunting, running, doing push ups, pull ups and all sorts of exercises. The atmosphere was extremely lively with children's clamours mixed in with the heavy grunting. It was like a festival was going on making Quash's spirit go up and he started running as well. He will run until he couldn't anymore to test his limits.
