Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 Mouse

Late at night, Ash and Bill stood vigil on the lighthouse balcony, waiting for the mysterious Pokémon to emerge from the fog. Ash had sent Misty, Giselle, and Brock to bed early—a small gesture that showed his considerate nature.

The mist grew thicker, dampening the world in a silent, grey shroud. Ash approached Bill, handing him a steaming mug of coffee. "Here. This should help with the chill."

Bill took a sip, the bitter warmth cutting through his drowsiness. "Thanks, Ash. Professor Oak wasn't kidding when he said you were a natural at taking care of people."

"It's a habit. I don't like making my mom worry, and that extends to the people I travel with."

"Impressive. Though, I wonder if we'll actually succeed tonight..." Bill's voice wavered with a hint of uncertainty.

Ash patted him on the shoulder. "Have a little faith in yourself, Bill. You've worked too hard and stayed up too many nights to give up now. Don't let all that effort go to waste."

The encouragement hit home. Bill nodded firmly, his confidence returning. They spent the next hour talking—discussing Bill's research into Pokémon linguistics and his gratitude toward Meowth for the data he provided.

Then, from the depths of the ocean, a low, haunting melody echoed—a song that sounded like an ancient hymn.

"It's here! Ash, help me start the broadcast!"

"On it! Beedrill! Pidgeot! Move out!"

The two flying Pokémon soared into the darkness as the others woke the rest of the group.

"What's happening?!" Misty cried, rubbing her eyes.

"Is it here?!" Giselle shouted.

"Look! Look at that size!" Brock pointed toward the sea.

A colossal silhouette was wading through the shallows toward the lighthouse. Meanwhile, at the base of the cliff, three familiar figures were struggling to climb up.

Meowth: "It's huge, nya!"

James: "It's heading right for us!"

Jessie: "Perfect timing! Get the rocket launcher! We'll bag the big one!"

But before Jessie could pull the trigger, Pidgeot and Beedrill descended like missiles. A flurry of Pin Missiles and a violent Gust sent the trio spinning into the horizon before they could even scream their names.

"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN—!"

The giant figure drew closer, but as it reached the edge of the lighthouse's light, it stopped. It let out a confused, lonely cry and began to turn back. Bill's recording wasn't enough; the creature realized it wasn't a real companion.

"Boss! He says it's just a fake voice!" Meowth translated.

Bill slumped, ready to accept defeat, but Ash stepped forward. "SERVE THE DISH! UNVEIL THE POT!"

With a coordinated effort from Ash's Pokémon, the massive lid was thrown off the pot. A wave of aroma—rich, savory, and impossibly complex—erupted from the pot, slicing through the salt air. The giant figure froze.

"The Secret Savory Century Soup! Free samples for the guest of honor!!" Ash roared.

Lured by the scent, the creature stomped closer until the lighthouse beams revealed its true form: A Dragonite, standing dozens of feet tall.

"It's... it's a Dragonite!" Bill whispered in awe.

The Dragonite ignored him, its eyes locked onto the giant pot of soup. Ash smiled. "Drink up! But in exchange for the meal, I want you to give my Pikachu a proper battle. Do we have a deal?"

The Giant Dragonite looked at the tiny Pikachu on Ash's shoulder and was about to dismiss the challenge, but then it sensed something. It felt the dense power radiating from the Pikachu. It nodded slowly.

"Thank you!"

The Dragonite hoisted the pot and drained it in one gulp. A satisfied, melodic rumble vibrated through its chest. It set the pot down and took a combat stance.

"Ready, Pikachu? This guy is likely at the Pseudo-Legendary Tier. This is what we've been training for!"

"Pika-pi!" Pikachu's cheeks sparked with violet electricity, his eyes burning with battle spirit.

"Quick Attack to close in, then Thunderbolt!"

The battle began with a literal bang. The Dragonite unleashed a Dragon Pulse that tore craters into the beach, but Pikachu was a blur. He dodged the beams with acrobatic grace, retaliating with high-voltage bolts that forced even the titan to roar in pain.

Misty and the others watched, paralyzed by the scale of the conflict.

"If Pikachu takes one hit, it's over!" Ash shouted. "Don't stop! Keep the pressure on! Empty the arsenal!"

"Pika-CHUUUUU!"

"How is a Pikachu this strong?!" Giselle gasped. "Is it at the peak of the Champion rank?!"

Meowth, recording the data with his equipment, shook his head. "Pikachu was the first to follow the Boss. He's had the most training, and he's mastered every custom Electric-type technique the Boss ever created. His power has been sitting at the peak of Champion for a long time... the Boss is trying to help him break the ceiling tonight!"

"Lightning Domain! Thunder! Railgun! Ten Million Volts! Use it all! Don't hold back a single spark, Pikachu! Release everything you've been building up!"

The sea was illuminated by an endless storm of gold and blue. Pikachu's custom Railgun attacks slammed into the Dragonite, and the two forces—the titan's breath and the mouse's lightning—clashed in a series of white-hot explosions.

"Pikachu, now! Bao Zakeruga!!"

Following Ash's command, Pikachu channeled a colossal amount of energy into the sky. A massive, crackling dragon made of pure lightning materialized, diving down to bite into the Dragonite, pinning its wings and flooding its nervous system with electricity.

"The final move! Sacred Lightning Blade!!"

Pikachu's tail erupted in a brilliant, golden light. As he plummeted from the sky, the lightning from the atmosphere and his own body fused into a blade of pure energy.

At that moment, Pikachu's aura shifted. He stepped across the threshold, his power evolving from Champion rank into the Pseudo-Legendary tier. His tail sliced through the Dragonite's final Dragon Breath like a hot knife through butter.

A blinding flash filled the beach.

When the light faded, the Dragonite stood still for a second before slowly collapsing into the surf. Pikachu, completely drained, began to fall from the sky.

"Pidgeot, now!" Ash leapt onto Pidgeot's back, catching Pikachu mid-air.

"Pika-pi..." Pikachu whispered, looking up at his trainer.

Ash smiled, holding him close. "Rest easy. We won."

Ash pulled out a Heavy Ball (Ultra-Grade) and tossed it at the fallen titan. The ball expanded, drawing the massive Dragonite inside. It rocked once... twice... and clicked shut.

Ash held the ball high, silhouetted against the morning sun. "Dragonite... I've caught it!"

Misty, Brock, and Giselle could only stare in stunned silence. They weren't just traveling with a genius anymore; they were traveling with a man who had just captured a god.
