After the heartwarming recruitment of the Squirtle Squad, Ash and his friends continued their journey. A quick update on the team: since Brock preferred Rock-types, he didn't catch a Squirtle. Misty and Giselle each took one, while the remaining two became Officer Jenny's new partners at the station.
Now, Ash was leading the group toward a lone lighthouse perched on a cliffside.
"Where are we going, Ash?" Misty asked, looking out over the misty coastline.
"An old friend of mine needs a hand," Ash replied with a sigh. "Professor Oak mentioned he hasn't checked in for a while, and knowing him, he's probably in some kind of weird trouble."
"An old friend, huh?" The three of them shared a look. Misty and Giselle felt a flicker of competitive tension, while Brock braced himself for potential heartbreak.
"His name is Bill," Ash explained. "He's a brilliant researcher, but he has a... let's call it a niche hobby. He likes dressing up in hyper-realistic Pokémon suits. I bet he's stuck in one again."
Meowth nodded. "Yeah, nya. That guy's a master of making life-sized action figures, but he definitely lacks common sense..."
When they arrived at the lighthouse, Ash's fears were confirmed. They found a giant Kabuto flailing helplessly on the floor.
"Help! Someone get me out of here!" A muffled voice cried from inside the shell.
After a few minutes of tugging and some well-placed grease, they managed to pry Bill out of the costume. The researcher was panting and pale. "Thank you, Ash! I seriously thought I was going to starve to death in there..."
While a ravenous Bill shoved bread into his mouth like there was no tomorrow, Ash turned to his team. "Everyone, go have some fun on the beach. It's a rare chance to relax by the sea."
The Pokémon erupted in cheers and bolted for the sand.
"Go ahead, Bill, take your time," Ash said, handing him a glass of water. "Dinner is on me tonight."
"You're a lifesaver, Ash! I'll leave the kitchen to the master!"
By the time Ash made it down to the shore, Misty and Giselle had already changed into their swimsuits. As for Brock? To prevent any unauthorized scouting, he had been gently knocked out and left to rest in a shaded grassy patch nearby.
"Ash! Over here!" Misty waved happily.
As Ash approached, the girls couldn't help but stare. Having trained his body relentlessly for the world-ending crises he vaguely remembered from his past life, his physique was lean, defined, and powerful.
"Wow, Ash... you're actually in incredible shape," Giselle remarked, tapping his arm with a surprised blush.
"Gotta be ready for anything the world throws at me," Ash said simply. He couldn't exactly tell them he was training to survive encounters with literal gods.
The trio spent the afternoon playing in the surf with the Pokémon. It was a rare moment of peace. Brock's Rock-types mostly stayed clear of the water, happily exploring the nearby treeline while their trainer napped.
As night fell and everyone's bellies were full, Ash didn't rest. He gathered all his Pokémon in the lighthouse kitchen, and they began a massive, coordinated cooking operation.
Charmeleon: "Char!" (Needs more meat!)Squirtle: "Squirtle!" (Make it savory!)Bulbasaur: "Bulba!" (Add some fresh herbs for a clean finish!)Beedrill: "Bee!" (Honey! It needs sweetness!)Pidgeot: "Pidgeot!" (A dash of these spices will carry the scent further!)Growlithe: "Arf!" (Make the aroma thicker!)Kirlia: "Kirlia..." (The energy balance feels right.)Pikachu: "Pika-pi!" (Wait! No ketchup? It has no soul without ketchup!)Chansey: "Lucky!" (I've added my nutritional eggs!)Miltank: "Moo!" (And here's the freshest milk!)
"Perfect!" Ash stirred the massive pot, the steam carrying an aroma so heavenly it made the air itself seem to shimmer. "This should do it. Let's see if he likes the taste."
Outside, Misty and Giselle were baffled by the commotion. "What is Ash making?"
"It's for tonight," Bill said, looking toward the fog-covered sea with an intense gaze. "Tonight, I'm finally going to see the face of the Giant Pokémon."
Inside the kitchen, Ash looked at his team and smiled. He wasn't just making a meal; he was creating the ultimate lure to attract the legendary Dragonite.
