Chapter 37 - When He Comes For Me

Sophia felt it before she heard it.

A shift.

A change in the air.

Like something inevitable had finally arrived.

She stood near the window now, arms folded tightly as she stared out at the city lights.

But her focus wasn't on the view.

It was on the feeling in her chest.

"He's close," she said quietly.

Behind her, Isabella didn't move.

"Of course he is."

That calm tone—

It sent a chill down Sophia's spine.

"You're not even worried," Sophia said.

Isabella smiled faintly.

"No."

Silence.

"Because this is exactly what you wanted," Sophia added.

A pause.

"Yes."

And then—

It happened.

A distant explosion echoed through the building.

The glass trembled.

The lights flickered.

Sophia's heart slammed against her ribs.

"He's here."

This time—

There was no doubt.

Outside—

Chaos erupted.

Luciano didn't arrive quietly.

He never did.

His men moved like shadows behind him, precise and deadly, clearing paths, taking down anyone who stood in their way.

But Luciano—

Luciano moved like something else entirely.

Unstoppable.

Unforgiving.

Every step calculated.

Every move lethal.

He didn't slow down.

Didn't hesitate.

Because there was only one thing in his mind.

Sophia.

Inside—

Sophia stepped back from the window as the sounds of gunfire grew louder.

Closer.

Her pulse raced.

"He's not going to stop," she said.

Isabella finally turned.

"I know."

A pause.

"That's the point."

Sophia's chest tightened.

"You're going to get people killed."

Isabella's expression didn't change.

"People die."

The same words Luciano had said.

But from her—

They felt colder.

Different.

The door burst open suddenly.

A man rushed in.

"He's tearing through everything," he said quickly. "We can't hold him—"

A gunshot cut him off.

He dropped instantly.

Sophia gasped softly.

And then—

He stepped in.

Luciano.

Everything stopped.

The air.

The tension.

The world.

For a moment—

No one moved.

No one spoke.

Sophia's breath caught.

There he was.

Real.

Alive.

Dangerous.

Her heart pounded violently.

"You came," she whispered.

Luciano's gaze locked onto hers instantly.

Nothing else mattered.

Not the room.

Not Isabella.

Just her.

"I told you I would."

His voice was low.

Steady.

But beneath it—

There was something darker.

Something lethal.

Isabella stepped forward slightly.

"Well," she said lightly, "this is dramatic."

Luciano didn't look at her.

Not yet.

"Are you hurt?" he asked Sophia.

She shook her head quickly.

"No."

A pause.

"I'm fine."

That was enough.

Luciano exhaled once.

Slow.

Controlled.

Then—

His gaze shifted.

To Isabella.

And everything changed.

"You took something that belongs to me," he said.

Sophia's breath caught.

Isabella smiled faintly.

"She's not yours."

Luciano didn't react.

"Wrong answer."

The tension snapped.

Sharp.

Immediate.

Gunfire erupted again as Isabella's men moved.

But Luciano was faster.

Always faster.

He moved like a storm—

Taking them down one by one.

Precise.

Brutal.

Unstoppable.

Sophia pressed herself back slightly, her heart racing as everything unfolded in front of her.

This wasn't a fight.

This was destruction.

Within seconds—

The room was clear.

Silence fell again.

Heavy.

Now—

It was just them.

Luciano.

Isabella.

Sophia.

Luciano stepped forward slowly.

His gaze locked on Isabella.

"You made a mistake."

Isabella didn't step back.

Didn't flinch.

"Did I?"

"Yes."

A pause.

"You made it personal."

Isabella's smile didn't fade.

"It was always personal."

Luciano stopped just a few feet away from her.

"Not like this."

Silence.

Dangerous.

Sophia watched them.

The tension between them was different.

Not just power.

History.

"You're losing control," Isabella said softly.

Luciano's expression didn't change.

"No."

"You came for her instead of protecting your empire."

A pause.

"That's weakness."

Sophia's chest tightened.

But Luciano didn't even hesitate.

"No," he said quietly.

A step closer.

"That's a choice."

That—

That changed something.

Even Isabella felt it.

Just slightly.

"You think that makes you stronger?" she asked.

Luciano's gaze darkened.

"It makes me dangerous."

Silence.

Heavy.

Final.

Then—

Luciano turned.

Walking toward Sophia.

Every step deliberate.

Controlled.

When he reached her—

He didn't hesitate.

His hand moved to her face.

Checking.

Confirming.

"You're safe," he said.

Her breath hitched.

"I told you I would come," he added.

Sophia's chest tightened.

"I knew you would."

Behind them—

Isabella watched.

Quiet.

Observing.

Because this—

This wasn't over.

Not even close.

As Luciano pulled Sophia closer—

Protective.

Possessive.

His gaze lifted again.

Locking onto Isabella one last time.

"This ends," he said.

Isabella smiled faintly.

"No," she replied softly.

A pause.

"It's just beginning."

And with that—

She was gone.

Sophia's heart raced as silence filled the room once more.

But this time—

It wasn't fear.

It was something else.

Something stronger.

Because now—

There was no denying it.

This war wasn't just about power anymore.

It was about them.

And neither side was backing down.
