Chapter 12 - Unnamed

Chapter – 12

(The Language of Eyes, the Silence of the Breeze, and a Glimpse of Confession)

College days suddenly seem to have fallen into a strange rhythm. Ayush and Aishi's relationship now stands at a point where unspoken words are the biggest truth. Unsaid feelings, unexpressed pain, unspoken love—everything is gathering quietly around them.

That day, Ayush was sitting on the college field, reading the script of the play. A friend sitting beside him said,

"Watching you and Aishi act, it feels like you don't just deliver dialogues—you live them."

Ayush didn't smile. He just lowered his head and said,

"Not everything is about dialogues. Some feelings can be expressed even in silence."

There was a quiet exhaustion in his voice.

Just then, Aishi walked out of the library, holding a few old books. There was a trace of tiredness in her eyes, yet a sense of determination too. These days, her movements have become more serious, more restrained.

The moment their eyes met, time seemed to pause. No one said a word. Yet both of them understood—there was a restless storm within. In this silence, countless words seemed to gather. Ayush's gaze lingered on Aishi's face. Aishi looked away and started walking, but even that walk felt like a silent call.

That afternoon, a poster suddenly appeared on the college notice board—

"Spring Festival: Drama Competition."

The entire college buzzed with excitement. Everyone got busy preparing. From the student council, it was announced that Ayush would once again play the central character. And Aishi was chosen as the female lead. Without hesitation, they were paired together as the main characters of the play.

Everyone was thrilled. But deep inside, both of them carried a shadow of fear—would this rehearsal once again tear open their unspoken emotions?

That evening, after practice, Ayush was sitting alone in the canteen. A soft breeze floated around, and steam rose from his cup of coffee. Just then, Aishi came and quietly sat in front of him.

Ayush looked surprised.

"You?"

Aishi smiled faintly.

"Will you rehearse with me today?"

Ayush smiled gently and said,

"I had lost the courage to even talk to you. I thought you'd avoid me today as well."

Aishi looked down and said,

"I was avoiding you too. But I felt restless. I thought maybe… if we talk a little, I might feel lighter."

Ayush looked at her deeply.

"You know, Aishi… when you stay silent, it scares me. I feel like you've misunderstood me."

Aishi paused and said,

"I don't misunderstand you, Ayush. In fact, I think about you so much that I don't know how to talk anymore. I'm afraid—what if my words hurt you?"

A silence fell over the table. Looking into each other's eyes, they both realized—they had stepped into the deep waters of each other's emotions. No words were spoken. Through the rising steam of a cup of coffee, they searched for the language of their hearts.

In the evening, rehearsal began. The stage was fully set. Today, they would perform the scene where the two characters face each other and confess their feelings for the first time.

Standing under the lights, Ayush said—

"If you're not there, my day doesn't end, my night doesn't begin. I know you won't say anything, but if I stay silent today… will your eyes say something?"

Aishi paused—and stepping beyond the script, she said—

"Do you know, every day I try to move away from you, but every day I come back to you? I'm afraid, Ayush. More than love, I'm afraid… of losing you."

The entire hall fell silent. The director whispered,

"I've never seen such truth in acting—even beyond the script."

No one could tell whether it was acting… or a real-life confession.

After rehearsal, Ayush and Aishi went backstage together. Suddenly, Ayush stood still and said,

"If you say it just once, I'll wait. I won't go anywhere. I'm only asking for a little courage from you."

Aishi replied softly,

"I won't say it… yet you stay. Because I know, if you stay, one day the wall of my fear will break."

With these words, Aishi left. Ayush stood there as the wind swirled around him. The scent of spring filled the air. The stage lights had gone out, but the light within them had not. Instead, it glowed even brighter.

That night, Ayush sat by the window. Sleep wouldn't come. He held an old diary, writing with a pencil—

"You stay silent. I stay silent. But the language of eyes cries, Aishi. Love is not blood that flows by religion. Love is like the air—it understands the heart, not religion. Say it once with courage… I will stay. I am here."

Aishi, too, sat in a corner of her room, staring at a half-written message on her phone. She had written—

"Stay, Ayush. I don't have the courage, but I want you to stay."

She didn't send it. The words just glowed on the screen. Tears gathered in the corner of her eyes. The wind entered through the window. And as it mixed with her tears, it became an invisible poem—left behind in silence.
