As Prince Rain's body slowly staggered, the wine glass fell to the ground and shattered into pieces, like the hearts of two people. Caelan was the first to reach out, then Kebel.
Kebel's eyes widened, his pulse quickened, and his breath hitched. His hand reached forward despite the distance, but before Rain could touch the floor, Caelan had taken control of his wheels and swayed perfectly to catch his mate.
Everywhere was quiet for a moment. No one dared say a word. Then a noble lady screamed, and the banquet turned to chaos within seconds.
Wine spilled from the corners of his mouth, his body went limp, and his eyes rolled backwards. Caelan gently tapped his cheeks, his hands shivering.
"Rain… Rain…"
He called, his voice hoarse but deep.
Kebel leaped forward, but the king quickly held his hand and pulled him backwards.
"You shouldn't," he warned.
Kebel's face darkened, but as he opened his mouth, he could tell more eyes were on them than he desired.
