Caelan left, but they remained kneeling, and time passed painfully slow…
Outside the wedding hall, Captain Caleb and his men watched in horror. Their eyes widened as they watched what Caelan did. His ruthlessness couldn't be measured, and it had never left.
As he stepped outside, they dared not follow him. Even Idris, who was pushing him, was asked to stay behind. Caelan went off alone into the inner section of the pack house.
Inside, Caelan's hands slowly rolled the wheels of his chair as he moved toward the east wing. It was calm, quiet, and deserted. Before him was a huge door… one he had not stepped into in three years.
Caelan drew in a long breath and pushed it open. Cobwebs spread from the ceiling to the curtains. Dust was thick and heavy on the furniture, but everything was the same… just as he had left it three years ago.
