It was already night time and one hour was spent since we met Gajapati in evening and we were planning for the war that was going to start during the sunrise. I found quite strange but it was their, way going forward to the planning everyone was confused of which battle formation to use.
Then suddenly a man wearing a cloak came and ser jagan said, "He is my spy".
The spy gave us the information of what is the planning Gajapati is doing. He is planning to make a triangle formation so that he can break our formation whatever it is.
"What kind of formation can be used to counter this formation", asked ser jagan.
Everyone was arguing that we should use this formation and that formation, but then Raghuvir who was standing quietly and besides me and thinking broke his silence and asked the permission to speak.
"You can speak", said ser bukka.
"The battle tactics I am thinking is very unique ser just listen and think about it. I noticed that Gajapati ironically only have one war elephant now and that is his own and according, to the spy he himself will positioned in the middle of the formation and the infantry and cavalry will be positioned front and back simultaneously".
"We all heard what he said now what is your point to repeat it", questioned ser jagan.
Raghuvir countinued, "My plan is we should deploy all the war elephants we have with us in the front and put our only two chariots in both sides respectively for the cavalry to move from back and attack from side so that they get flinch from sudden heavy attacks and infantry need to do less work and on the back will be positioned our all Archers and make them countinue firing arrows. This is my trident formation plan. Once the Gajapati is captured then war is over".
It was an excellent plan by Raghuvir everyone praised it and now we only have to take care of one thing, that is Kaling's Archers.
Atharv Jadhav, second commander of emperor was given incharge of elephant cavalry, I will lead our cavalry from left and Krishnaraj from right, ser jagan insisted to lead the Archers as he was good at with bow and I was able to sense fear in him, rest everybody will lead infantry.
"Sleep well everyone get full rest, we need to get up early. This can even be your last sleep, announced ser bukka.
After that I woke up early in dawn when everyone were preparing for battle. I also get ready for battle wore my native arabic armour and took my Shamshir and shield which originally belonged to my father.
By looking at my get-up it was new for everybody I prepared my horse did not talk to anyone and simply got ready for my formation as enemies were also getting ready.
It only took some time for our formation to get ready and it was only a half an hour left for sunrise then Gajapati's envoy came and ask us as the last chance for surrender but it's was already too late for this.
Both our armies were ready the clash and then the sun rose both the chief of both armies blew big sea shall they call 'shankh' as indication of starting the war.
Both armies started matching towards each other and then clash finnally happened. As anticipated our elephants crushed their front and when the opportunity came I and Krishnaraj ambushed by making the trident formation and I hit the spot.
It was a split amount of time and I realised that fighting a war is not easy task. Killing someone in war was less of glory but more of survival, I on my horse was trying to be safe from arrows, enemy spears, and enemies coming towards me. Sometimes enemy come from the side I not am looking towards and one of the soldiers came and die in attempt to save me and looking at them I got flinch sometime my sense of hearing, sense of understanding, everything shuts down and I am walked by one of the soldiers or by seeing enemy approaching.
Hours were passing I was just surviving more and killing less in this hours I would not have killed more than 100 enemies.
Then I saw Gajapati on his elephant, though I was not able see his reaction properly but he was telling his elephant charioteer whom they call 'mahout' something, most probably he new the coming outcome but then suddenly his mahout stand-up and with his sword decapitated the Gajapati.
A shocking site it was, then the mahout revealed himself and he was none other than Atharv Jadhav, commander in chief of imperial Rashtrakut army.
The Kaling army fled back, and the day was won.
