Chapter 35 - Ancient Ruins

(Third Person POV)

Sharn stood in front of a massive door that seemed to be made out of pure stone. She was shining the torch in front of them, spotting several massive scratch marks on the bottom of the doors.

Samuel was looking around the large tunnel that they made their way to, "So this is the entrance, huh?" I said, "Pretty deep in the cavern system, a somewhat fitting location for it."

"Mhm." Sharn said as she looked to the side, "We might have a problem."

"What?" Oneth said, "What is it?"

"Visitors." Sharn said as she gestured at a body that was lying on the ground next to the doors, "And they don't seem like our tribe members."

Samuel walked over to the body, turning it over with his foot, "Huh, how about that." He said, seeing that it was a shriveled old man with gashes on his face, "Human, or so it seems."

Oneth flicked her tongue outwards, "Strange." She said, "He has gashes, but I don't smell blood on him."

Sharn looked at the large scratch marks, "I wonder what did this?" She said, "It's rather strange."

Samuel looked at the marks, "I figured the Great Bear did that." I said, "I mean, don't you think that it would occasionally wander to the door and try to get in?"

"I don't know." Sharn said, "Maybe, but they seem to be bigger than the Great Bear."

"Oh fuck me." Samuel scowled, "How big are animals in this place?"

"This doesn't seem like an animal." Oneth said, "It could be a Magic Beast, far different than ordinary animalia."

"Whatever it was, it probably killed the Bear." Sharn said with a frown

"What, the Centipedes weren't the culprit?" Samuel said, "Well, that would make sense....they're still too small to be capable of ripping its head off. Hm....."

"We should open the doors and head on inside." Oneth said, "Chief Vakmu might have gone inside."

"Right." Sharn nodded, "Hold the light, boy."

"Boy...?" Samuel frowned as he took the torch, "I'm 25....."

"Cute." Sharn said as she walked over to the doors, "Quite young."

"How old are you?" Samuel asked her

"26." Sharn said as she stood in the middle of the doors, "Older than you."

"By one fucking year!" Samuel scowled

"Still older." Sharn said, "Now, let me concentrate."

Sharn then proceeded to slam her hands onto the doors, grunting loudly as she pushed against with pure force. Samuel raised his eyebrows, seeing the way her body was bent forwards, causing her thighs and ass to be visible in an alluring light.

"Oh....." Samuel said, pointing the light towards her, "Nice."

"Nice?" Oneth asked

The two of them watched as the stone doors began to open enough for them to pass through, Sharn stumbling forwards and grunting.

"Shit..." She said as she composed herself, "They're quite heavy. I opened them enough for us to walk through, come on."

Samuel whistled, "She's strong." He said, "Those things look to be thousands of pounds heavy, gargantuan doors made out of pure stone."

"Hm, I'm proud of my strength." Sharn said as she placed her hand on her hip, "Don't underestimate me."

Samuel smirked slightly, "Yea, I bet you are." He said, walking past the door, "Those muscles of yours aren't for show, that's clear. You and that sculpted body of-"

"Stop flirting." Oneth said with an annoyed tone, "Let's go."

"Yea, let's go." Sharn said with smirk, "No time to flirt, pretty boy."

Samuel chuckled, "She thinks I am pretty, though."

They walked past the entrance, making their way down a large hallway that led to a massive chamber that had stone steps, leading down to a pile of what seemed like gold and jewelry. This clearly made the group stop in their tracks, looking down at the sudden sight with a bit of surprise.

"A treasure hoard?" Samuel asked, standing at the top of steps, "We just entered this place, and we find this? Why even hoard it here in the entrance if there is a city further in?"

"Yes, that's what strange about this." Sharn said, "There are more optimal locations to store riches like this."

"Unless they are placing it there, having procured the treasure from deeper within." Oneth said, her hand on her chin, "That's a possibility."

Samuel snapped his finger, "Good thinking." He said, "That's probably it. But the question is, who is hoarding it?"

Sharn looked around, "I wonder where my Father would have gone." She said, "That corpse outside the entrance is getting me worried."

Samuel looked at the ceiling, seeing that there was a large shadow hanging from a massive chandelier.

"Huh." He said, "What's that?"

Oneth looked up, "What?"

"Something's up there." Samuel drew his gun

Sharn looked up as well, "What is it?"

"I can't see in the dark, so I don't know." Samuel said, "But something is definitely up there."

As he said this, two bright green eyes suddenly opened, staring right at them. The chandelier began to shake as a loud hum was heard. Then, the shadow shot straight down into the ground, right towards the pile of gold.

They all watched a cloaked figure land atop the pile, slowly standing up and straightening up. Oneth narrowed her eyes as she flicked her tongue in the air, her fists slowly clenching as she recognized what was before them.

It was a grey-skinned elf with black and blue hair that was as long as his shoulders, with bright green eyes, tear-marks funning down his cheeks. He seemed to be tall and lanky, with his cheekbones being visible.

"A Dusk Elf." Oneth said, "A fucking Dusk Elf."

"What?!" Sharn said as she raised her fists in a defensive pose, "Are you kidding me? There's a Dusk Elf this close to the capital?!"

The Dusk Elf opened his mouth slowly, releasing a bit of steam as he stared right at Samuel with his fierce green eyes.

"Hm...." Samuel said, noticing two distinct fangs, "Well, correct me if I am wrong....but wouldn't this fucker be a vampire too? If those exist in this place?"

Oneth narrowed her eyes, "That is exactly what we need." She said, "A Dusk Elf Vampire. This is great."

"A Dusk Elf Vampire...." Sharn said, "I've only heard those from legends...the vampires, that is."

"Well, they're as real as they can get." Oneth said, "And this one is one of them."

The Elf raised his bony hand and pointed at Samuel, "You...." It's nasally voice was unsettling to hear, "You will die."

"Oh, is that so?" Samuel said, spinning his gun and aiming it at him, "I don't think so, buddy."

"How about you fucking die?"
