I looked up at her, my features hardening into a serious, unyielding line.
She wouldn't look at me, wouldn't meet my eyes.
I leaned against the headboard, my hand still curled around hers. "I overheard something at Silver moon pack….While Alpha Gideon was having a conversation with his informant.'' I paused, looking into her eyes for any movement.
She didn't move.
Didn't bother looking up.
Instead, she shifted in her skin, fiddling with the helm of her dress, her countenance wary.
''They are tracking a scent, Vivienne.''
Her heart rate spiked, the sound echoing loudly in my ears.
I slowly pulled her to me, letting her lean against my chest.
She stiffened, her body going rigid against me, her heart beating incessantly in her chest.
