Darkness.
I blinked through the haze, squinting into the distant for something, anything…
Nothing.
Except…unyielding, suffocating darkness.
I was trapped in an enclosed, void-like space inside my own mind, surrounded by thick walls of black fog.
My limbs wouldn't move.
My lungs were frozen, the sound of my heartbeat barely registering.
Every time I tried to force my consciousness upward towards the surface, a heavy weight of residual silver and wolfsbane slammed me back down into the abyss.
''Roman?!'' A sound pierced through the silence.
I tried to move, tried to reach the voice even though it was distant, muffled like it was traveling through thick layers of water.
"Roman! Roman, please! Wake up!"

My chest burned.
She was crying.
No, she was screaming—her voice fractured, raw, and completely drowned in a terrifying agony that made my heart tighten.
She was bawling her eyes out, her voice filled with fear as she shook me.
