"Alright! We have food for the month now!"
"I'm not sure if we have the same definition of food, Yumi."
"Oh yeah, I forgot you're all worried about not getting the right amount of proteins and stuff..."
Yumi commented, stuffing one of the kitchen cabinets to the brim with small, packed noodle cups, before shutting it.
"I'm sure we can find something laying around in here."
She shrugged, exiting the room to meet with the other woman, who seemed to be doing something on her computer, sitting by the couch, hunched over and staring at the screen.
"I'm sure it'll be fine.."
A quiet murmur escaped the woman's lips.
"Whatever you say, just don't start whining when you've grown tired of the blessed consumable that is ramen."
The tan woman commented, leaning against the back of the couch, placing her head behind the other woman's ear,
"What'cha doing?"
She asked casually, trying to lean closer to get a better look.
"Trying to find someone we can kill."
"You mean I can kill?"
"Not a lot of killing that can be done with that hand of yours.."
The focused woman stated, for a moment turning away from the screen, looking over at the other woman's bandaged arm.
"It's fine. They did some test and gave me painkillers before sending me off. Of course, scolded me for having low iron, like a woman's never had that before.."
She scoffed, clearing her throat, deciding to switch the topics up.
"Found anything interesting on there?"
"Two pornstars, but not a lot of criminals. Job-wise."
"If we need work, can't we just head to the police station and ask when someone gets out?"
"We could, but then we'd be asked where that person suddenly went a couple days after their release."
"Alright, let's not do that then.."
The wounded woman sighed, leaning back for a moment before she decided to climb onto the couch from behind, sitting closely next to the other woman.
"So... how bad is the money situation, exactly..?"
"We have roughly 63,000¥ in total. All bills are paid for this month, but by the end of the next, we'll have about 140,000¥ in debt."
"That's... really bad.."
"Considering you have no education, and my inability to clear a job interview, I'd say we're going to end up on the streets in roughly two or three months, as the landlord would kick us out."
"Alright, so, we need cash.. quickly.."
"Correct."
The women sat in silence for a moment, staring either into nothingness, or at the computer screen, that had now shut itself off, leaving only darkness.
"Prostitution could work?"
The brunette facepalmed at the suggestion,
"What happened to the 'My body is a temple," thing?"
She asked blankly.
"That's with rapists. You're fine. And I probably wouldn't even feel it if a zucchini was shoved up my-"
"Don't even bother finishing that sentence, Yumi..."
"Fine, jeez.. Do you have any other suggestions?"
"We could sue that waiter that burnt you."
"We can't afford a lawyer."
"Touché."
"We could move to Gifu and become cheapskates. I've heard the place is cheap."
The injured woman suggested, shrugging her shoulders. The other woman's expression turned into one of confusion,
"What does 'cheapskates' mean?"
"Basically, people that do anything to save some cash. Stocking up on cheap food and eating it even though it's a couple days bad. You could go more extreme and shower less, and also share them, to save water. Just stuff to save cash, you know?"
She explained.
The term was new for the brunette, but she couldn't deny that it was a possibility. At this rate, they wouldn't survive for long in their financial situation.
"Hold on for a minute, please.."
She said, putting her laptop aside on the coffee table, before standing up, rushing to a bookshelf that resided on the right side of the door. In the bookshelf, hidden behind various books, she found a notebook of hers. She returned to the couch, sitting down beside the woman and opening it, taking out the pen that was placed inside.
"What'cha doing..?"
The other woman asked, tilting her head to the side, trying to peer into the woman's handwriting.
"We've been such idiots! Never even thought about making some sort of plan for out spendings!"
"Uh-huh.."
The other woman simply nodded.
"You do that.. and all the math.. I'll try to find some clients.."
She informed, scooting back and reaching for the laptop, tapping it once to turn it on, and then typing in the password.
(Jeez, I shouldn't have asked about the cash stuff..)
Yumi thought to herself, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she stared at the woman for a moment, taking in her sudden intense expression and the way the pen seemed to scream in agony from being held too tightly. She decided it would be best not to argue, so she turned her attention back to the screen, scrolling and typing away.
Some time passed, the two women finding themselves on opposite sides of the leather couch, one typing away at the computer, while the other for hand.
The sun slowly began to set over the sky, dimming the lights in the room. Soon, the crickets would awaken to chirp their songs.
