Chapter 10 - his mother

Ved left for the office, while Kashvi remained seated in her room, drowning in regret.

"What did I even do… and why did Ved do this to me?" she whispered through her tears.

"I know he was drunk, but still… not so drunk that he could do all this."

Her shoulders trembled as she cried harder.

"No… none of this is right. Ved shouldn't have done this."

Just then, a soft knock echoed on the door.

"Dada ji? You're here?" Kashvi asked as she opened it.

Grandfather looked at her with quiet concern.

"Beta, I notice you spend all your time locked in this room. You don't really have anything to keep yourself occupied. So I was thinking… why don't you join the company?"

Kashvi looked up, startled.

"If you work there, you'll be around Ved more. You'll both grow closer, and your time will pass as well," he added gently.

"N-no, Dada ji," Kashvi replied softly. "I'm happy the way I am. I don't want to join the company. My presence will only disturb Ved."

"How can you be a disturbance?" he said firmly. "I'll talk to him. From tomorrow, you're joining the company."

Then he took out a card and placed it in her hand.

"And take this. Go shopping. Buy some formal clothes—and whatever else you like."

It wasn't a suggestion. It was an order.

Kashvi hesitated for a moment, then quietly accepted the card. After getting ready, she left for shopping with a few bodyguards and a driver.

At the mall, while browsing through clothes, her eyes suddenly fell on a red gown—elegant, breathtakingly beautiful. Just as she stepped closer to it, a middle-aged woman reached for the same gown.

The woman was wearing a navy-blue dress and glasses. One look at her was enough to tell she was wealthy and dignified.

Noticing Kashvi, the lady smiled warmly.

"If you like it, you should take it."

"N-no, aunty," Kashvi replied politely. "You came first. If you like it, you should buy it."

Impressed by Kashvi's gentle nature, the woman happily handed over the red gown and walked away.

Kashvi continued shopping—formal dresses, footwear, and finally the red gown. Soon, she reached the billing counter. Coincidentally, the same woman was there as well, getting her items billed.

Looking at Kashvi, the lady smiled again.

"It seems like you're newly married."

Kashvi blushed. "Y-yes, aunty."

They were chatting casually when the cashier asked,

"Ma'am, mode of payment—cash or card?"

Kashvi handed over the card.

The cashier glanced at it and asked, "Ma'am, the cardholder's name?"

"Devraj Oberoi," Kashvi replied calmly.

The moment the name left her lips, the woman froze.

"W-what did you say?" she asked in shock. "What relation do you have with Devraj Oberoi?"

Kashvi smiled, though her expression was slightly confused.

"Granddaughter-in-law."

The woman's eyes widened in disbelief.

"T-then… you're Ved's wife?"

"Yes," Kashvi nodded. "But… do you know Ved and Dada ji?"

The woman swallowed hard before finally speaking—

"I'm Ved's mother."
