Chapter 13 - that night... everything changed

In call with anvi

Her voice trembled on the call, soaked in tears—carefully chosen, perfectly placed.

"Ved… I gave you permission to marry because I knew you would never go against your grandfather," Anvi sobbed. "I never asked you to disrespect him. Still, in his eyes, I'm the villain. But fine… I accepted your marriage too. I accepted everything."

She paused, her breath uneven.

"But this child… this child will become the reason for the distance between us. I can't live like this anymore, Ved. I'm leaving India. I just want to see you one last time."

Before Ved could respond, the line went dead.

The silence crushed him.

Within minutes, he was already on his way to her.

It was almost four in the morning when Ved returned home—his eyes red, his mind burning with rage.

Kashvi opened the door, fear instantly flashing across her face.

"V-Ved—"

Before she could finish, his hands were at her throat.

"Have you lost your mind?" she gasped. "Let go, Ved… you're not thinking straight."

He shoved her away violently. She fell hard onto the floor.

Kashvi was three months pregnant.

She cried out, clutching herself as pain spread through her body.

Ved stood over her, breathing heavily, blinded by fury.

"Kashvi Mehra," he spat, his voice shaking with hatred, "I hate you. Because of you, Anvi is leaving me. Ever since you entered my life, everything has been destroyed."

Only then did he notice the blood.

Too much blood.

Kashvi lay still.

Unconscious.

Hospital

"Doctor… how is she?" Ved asked, his voice breaking for the first time.

"We managed to save her," the doctor said gently. "But we couldn't save the baby."

The words shattered him.

Ved collapsed onto the chair, covering his face as tears finally fell.

At that moment, his grandfather arrived.

Without a word, he slapped Ved—hard.

"This," he said coldly, "is the consequence of your cruelty."

Days passed in the hospital.

Kashvi was discharged, but she never truly returned.

Her eyes were empty. Her silence was terrifying.

That night, when she woke up, the house was dark. Ved was asleep on the sofa.

She said nothing.

Quietly, she took out her suitcase.

She packed her clothes, her memories, and what remained of her courage.

Then she wrote a note.

And left.

The Next Morning

Ved woke up and looked at the bed.

Empty.

A strange panic gripped him.

He searched the kitchen.

Nothing.

He ran through the house.

"Kashvi?" he called.

No answer.

He called the office.

She wasn't there.

That's when he noticed the folded paper near her pillow.

His hands trembled as he read:

Sorry, Ved, for entering your life and ruining everything.

You're free now.

Your biggest bad luck is leaving your house and your destiny.

I don't even know where I'm going. I'm just leaving.

Wishing you a beautiful life with your love, Anvi.

Ved broke down.

He searched for her everywhere.

Every place.

Every city.

But Kashvi Mehra had disappeared.

And this time—

There was no way to bring her back.
