Penelope and Killian were on their way to see his contact. He told her that he couldn't get a big order of weapons on such short notice. She didn't really mind. She was grateful for what they could get their hands on.
"Do you know if this apocalypse will ever end?" Penelope asked as she looked out the window.
Killian was quiet, he was not sure how to tell her that the apocalypse would be the new norm. He didn't want to be the one to land that blow. It was a hard pill to swallow.
"You don't have to answer that. I was just asking. My brother Kai stayed up reading zombie apocalypse novels. He said he wanted to get as much information as possible. I have read a few myself."
"Perhaps, but I don't think we will live to see it end" Killian finally spoke. He said it so low that Penelope almost didn't hear him.
'What a buzz kill' Penelope thought to herself. She reached for the radio and started humming to the song playing. Her hands started tapping to the beat.
Killian had never seen such a carefree version of her. Well, he had never seen any other version except of the professional Miss Wolfe. He found himself thinking about Sasha. She was never this carefree around him. She was always asking for something. He always thought that was how relationships worked.
Penelope was different. She was positive. Which he found strange, given that they both knew what was coming.
"Should we warn anyone about what's coming?" Penelope hoped he could help.
"I already sent out a message to a high rank contact in the military. He is aware of everything. I told him it was a dream. He called me crazy but I know him. He took my words seriously. I would never joke about something so serious. He told me to keep quiet. He's the one who got me connected with this dealer. He will try to come to me. I just need to send him my location before 5pm."
"That's good, I guess. However, I was talking about informing civilians. Do you think we should send out an anonymous post? I don't know any hackers, but I figured a man of your status should." Penelope really did want to help others. Just not at the expense of her and her family's safety.
"I'll reach out to him and see if he can do that without getting caught". Killian really wanted to help, but he wouldn't put his best friend in danger either. That was his brother. Regardless of being non-blood related. Him, Joseph and Victor have always been close. The three of them use to call themselves The 3 Musketeers. Unfortunately, Joseph was missing at the moment. He went out on a mission last month. No one knew if he was alive. He sent him an email, hoping that he could at least see his emails.
Once Killian and Penelope arrived at their destination they noticed a guard was already waiting for them. He gestured for them to get out of their vehicle. "My apologies to the lady, but we will have to check if she's armed" he said in a ruggish voice.
"I'm not carrying. However if you must check, can it be a woman?" She understood it was for the safety of the dealer. She had no intentions of getting on their bad side.
"Yes ma'am, one of the ladies is waiting in the room for you." The guard said politely. He was astonished that she did not retaliate. Most woman who had come to make exchanges with their partners always acted like princesses. This one didn't question them nor spoke to them in a haughty tone. He could appreciate it.
They were led to individual rooms where they were thoroughly searched. Once Penelope came out of the room, Killian was already waiting for her. They were taken to a huge conference room. A man in all black was sitting in the center. He went by the name of Silent. 'What a unique nickname' Penelope thought.
"Welcome to my humble abode Mr. Remington. I heard you wanted to do business with me. Tell me, how can I help you" Silent said as he looked at Penelope.
Killian stepped forward, blocking his view and said "I want weapons. I want whatever you have available right now." This diverted Silent's attention from Penelope onto Killian.
He stared at him for brief second before he slowly smiled. "Do you have anything you specifically need?"
"Whatever you have available is what I need" Killian did not break a sweat while holding Silent's stare. He could tell this man was deadly, but so was he. Sure, he wasn't in the army anymore. But he had served his time in the special ops with Joseph. He understood how bloodthirsty people like Silent could be, and he could meet his bet and raise it.
"I have the following. Let me know if you want it" He passed him a list of items and their quantities.
M4A1 Carbine, M7 (XM5), M16A4, SIG Sauer P320, M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle (ESR), M240B/M240, M110A1 SDMR, M500 Shotgun, Katana, Wakizashi , Sabers, Cutlasses, Dirks, Dao blades and Jian swords. The list was not as impressive as Killian wanted it to be but it had to do. What did impress him was the quantity.
"How much?" Killian asked as he handed the list back to him.
"I want 9 million dollars, along with 5% of shares to Remington Enterprises" Penelope was shocked. This guy was really trying to bite more than he could chew. She clearly saw the prices and the quantity. 9 million was just right. Why did he want shares too?
Killian wanted to laugh. His shares would be worth nothing after 5 pm. "Sure, do you have a contract ready to sign? If not, I'll have one drafted in 15 mins. Do you have an authorized notary available?"
Silent blinked, he was shocked that he agreed. 'Damn, I should have asked for 7%' he thought.
"Yes, I have an authorized notary here. You will need to draft a contract." He proceeded on telling him the details of who the shares should go to. After everything was completed and the money was sent he took them to the back room to see the inventory. They agreed to take it to a warehouse where Killian would pick it up from.
"Great doing business with you, reach out of you need anything else" Silent said.
"Actually, there is one thing, do you have any customized vehicles" Penelope asked. She realized that they would need them in the future.
Silent was shocked to hear her talk. He thought she was just there as arm candy. Most men he had dealings with always brought beautiful woman to accompany them as ornaments.
"We do, but what can you give me in return?" He asked. He was not trying to sound like a flirt. He had a wife and child at home. Hence the reason why he worked hard to hustle those shares. He wanted his son to have a legitimate business to fall back on. Although he wasn't ashamed of his profession, he wanted a better life for his son.
"What do you want?" Penelope asked in return.
"I have 10 bulletproof hummers available. Customized to withstand almost anything. Including cold weathers as well. Each is to be priced at 1 million dollars"
"Are these all you have available to sell or are these all you have in general?" Penelope could tell that this man was only dangerous to his enemies. He held no malice towards her.
"Just to sell, my personal collection is not for sale." Although Silent was baffled by her question, he did not see the need to lie to her.
"Then I'll transfer the 10 million now, please deliver them to Killian's warehouse as well" Penelope said. She wired the money over as well.
