Robellia stood by her mother's bed. She took in a deep breath, "I am sorry, mother. I had no choice." She pulled out her ring, tossing it onto the bed, and just like in her dream, she felt this powerful surge of energy pulse through her. The overbearing power turned to a pain that engulfed her body. She groaned in pain as she tried to reach for the ring on the bed, and just like that, she collapsed to the floor.
"...iya! Liya! Please no. Liya, wake up. Please!" Robellia could hear Genevieve's distant voice call out to her. Robellia forced her heavy eyes open. "good lord! Liya, what happened to your eyes? Can you see me?" Robellia shut her eyes as she felt a slight headache. She sat up and groaned, "What happened?" "I don't know. I just came back to take my shawl when I heard you groan in pain. When I opened the door, you were on the floor. Liya, your eyes just now......" Robellia opened her eyes, remembering, "Mother!" She jolted up. She nearly screamed at the sight before her. She could see them, the ancestors. Robellia froze. They were all over the room staring at her. "Can she see us?" she heard Lady Caroline ask the man beside her. She had missed that voice.
"Liya, your eyes, there is something wrong with them," Genevieve exclaimed, looking terribly worried. Robellia turned to her, "I am fine, Gen. I need you to go lock that door right now." Genevieve was ready to protest, but Robellia gave her a pleading look. Genevieve hurried to lock the door. "Lady Carline!" Robellia called. The so-called Lady Caroline rushed to hover right before her face. "Steve, she can see us. Oh! Liya." Lady Caroline hugged her. Robellia smiled. "Uhmm! Liya. Who are you talking to?" Genevieve stood by the door watching her. "I will explain later, Gene. You have to keep that door closed." Robellia knew Genevieve was going to freak out, but she could trust her; that much she could believe was true.
"She is human, Liya," the man named Steve argued. The others agreed. "She cares for the girl." "I doubt she is to be trusted. She is..." Steve was cut short as Lady Caroline glared at him. "She can be trusted, but as of now, that isn't important. Mother is dying, I need a spell to cure her," some lady scoffed."Roselyn was forced not to take off that ring, knowing full well it would render us powerless. She knows we depend on you to exist boundlessly in the mortal realm, and yet she denied us that right. We have no intention of helping her, now." The others agreed, murmuring amongst themselves.
"The woman you speak of is my mother." Robellia retorted, "shit robellia you are freaking me out, right now." Genevieve could no longer hold it in. Robellia turned to her. "Gene, you have to trust me right now." Robellia picked up the ring, and the ancestors erupted in an uproar. "You help me cure her, or you forget me ever taking this ring off." Lady Caroline hurriedly stopped her, "Liya, wait. Please! We will help you. You have my word, but only if you promise to keep that cursed object as far as possible. In fact, you should destroy it." Robellia looked down at her mother, "You know she'd never allow that." "Robellia, we can help her, but you need to help us too."
Robellia looked at her mother, "I agree, on your terms." Lady Caroline sighed, "We must hurry, she has very little time, and the hour of the witch is upon us. The spell is quite powerful; it may drain you." "Whatever it takes to save her." Genevieve looked worried as she stared at Robellia. She couldn't watch this any longer. She was ready to open the door and rush over to Madame Sino's room; maybe she could help. "Gene, I need your help to set up the sigil for the spell." Genevieve looked at Robellia take out various objects from the drawers. "Gene!" Robellia called her. Genevieve sighed and went to take the candles and needles from her. "Place them on the floor by the bed," Robellia instructed.
Though she was reluctant, she played along. Maybe it was Robellia's way of coping. Genevieve placed them on the ground. Robellia came towards her with parchment papers, pieces of chalk, and a matchstick, and sat on the ground. Robellia looked up at Genevieve, "Sit down, Gene. We are running out of time." Genevieve sat down, still staring at Robellia. Robellia started to draw these weird symbols onto the parchment papers, whispering some incantations as she pierced the candles with needles. "Liya, I know this is hard for you, but this is going too far, and your eyes are there white, Liya, that's not normal. I doubt you can even see me. I am going to call Madame Sino; you need help, Liya."
"Gene, wait. I know I must seem crazy, and all this is weird. All I ask of you is trust me. No questions, just trust me. Please!" Genevieve looked into her best friend's eyes and sighed, "Tell me what to do." Robellia smiled as she arranged the items, "I need you to be my anchor. Hold my hands, and no matter what, don't let go, if you do, then my soul may.... let's just say wander off." "What!" Genevieve freaked out. Robellia extended her crossed arms. Genevieve exhaled. She also crossed her arms and held Robellia's hands tightly. "Gene. Don't. Let. Go," Robellia said each word keenly.
