Chapter 21 - NO ONE

Just then, they heard a knock, and Madame Sino walked in with the physician. The physician hurried over to Roselyn's side and began conducting his tests on her. Robellia and Genevieve stood by the corner patiently awaiting whatever he had to say. Madame Sino stood beside the physician, looking slightly anxious. Robellia looked at Genevieve, and Genevieve sighed. She indicated she'd not say a word and raised her pinky finger. Robellia gave her a small smile as she joined their pinky fingers.

"This is fascinating. a miracle, to be exact. She is doing more than better. The ailment seems to have just disappeared; all she is doing now is having a deep sleep due to the large doses of sleeping pills I gave her earlier. She will be as good as new by sunrise," the physician exclaimed in a rather surprised tone. "Thank you so much for saving my mother. I owe you her life." Robellia looked at him with gratitude. The physician grabbed his bag and walked over to Robellia. he placed his hand on Robellia's shoulder, "I assure you, child, this is not my work. Your love and hope for her have saved her. " Take care," saying that he excused himself. Madame Sino escorted him out.

Once Madame Sino and the physician left the room, Robellia and Genevieve let out a sigh of relief. "You should really audition for a play. Goodness, Liya." Genevieve lightly slapped Robellia's shoulder as she laughed. Robellia smiled, "Do you know how hard that was?" Genevieve smiled, "It's good to see you smiling again. Honestly, the gloomy look doesn't suit you. His highness was pulling your leg when he said it did." Robellia remembered something, "Mhmm! You two seem to be familiar with one another."

Genevieve smiled, "Well, I know him because of you. You always talk about him, and it must be the same for him." "Well, I did talk about you a lot back then. Gen, it's getting late, you should go lie down, the sun is almost up." Genevieve yawned, "You are right. Goodnight, Liya." Genevieve hugged her, "Goodnight, Gene."Robellia watched Genevieve leave. She sat by the bed as she watched over Roselyn, and just like that, exhaustion took over her, and she fell asleep.

The next morning, Robellia woke up to find herself lying on the bed. She could vividly remember sleeping by the chair and her mother..... She sat up with a jolt and sighed in relief, seeing Roselyn seated by the chair she had sat in last night. She looked perfectly fine. In fact, she was already dressed for work. "Mother, thank goodness..." "The ring, Liya?" Roselyn asked in a cold tone. Robellia looked down at her finger; it was back on. "Mother, I promised them I'd not put it back on." "You'd not put it back on? Do you hear yourself, Robellia? Not only did you take that ring off and communicate with the ancestors, but you also conducted a spell that possibly could kill you." Roselyn looked livid.

"What did you expect me to do? Watch you slowly die before my eyes? Is that what you wanted me to do the moment you decided to keep that illness to yourself, mother? Did you not think for a second of how I'd cope with that? Did you?" Robellia yelled as tears formed, blurring her vision slightly. Roselyn sighed, "Who was your anchor, Liya?" she asked in a calm voice. Robellia blinked away her tears and looked at Roselyn, "No one. I did it mysel....." Roselyn abruptly stood up and grabbed Robellia's face, "DO YOU TAKE ME FOR A FOOL?" she yelled. Robellia did not lower her gaze," I said, no one." Roselyn let go of her, "Genevieve is your anchor?" It was more of a statement than a Question.

Robellia did not look away from her, "You truly underestimate my powers, mother. I conducted the sleep with the thought of you as my anchor. It was you who bound me to reality." Roselyn looked at her daughter as she slowly caved in, "If I find out that girl knows what you are. You do know that would give me no choice in the matter." "And I assure you, mother, she knows nothing." Robellia stood her ground. Roselyn sighed as she tried to caress Robellia's head. Robellia pushed her hand away, "Don't you dare touch me." Roselyn closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. She opened her eyes and smiled as she sat on the bed, "Liya, I love you, and I would do anything, anything to protect you. You are all I have of him. And I am sorry for not telling you about my illness, but I thought I could cure myself. I tried every herb I could think of."

Roselyn sighed once more, "Thank you for saving my life." Robellia did not want to even look at her right now. Roselyn reached out to touch her, but retracted her hand as she got up, "You are not taking off that ring under any circumstances. Do you hear me?" Robellia remained silent as she turned away from her. "ROBELLIA," Roselyn yelled at her as she grabbed her arm, forcing Robellia to face her. Robellia looked at her tears streaming down her face, "Yes, mother." Roselyn smiled as she wiped away Robellia's tears and kissed her forehead, "You should get some rest. I shall speak with Madame Sino." "There will be no need. I am fine." Roselyn sighed and took her things, "I am off to work. I will see you later."
