Sonia's heart lurched as the pain of betrayal tugged against her chest, her heartbeat pounded hard even as she tried to stay calm.
Slowly… she raised her hand again. And this time… she knocked.
Once.
Twice.
The voices inside stopped instantly but they didn't call her in. Without waiting, she pushed the door open.
The soft glow of lights illuminated everything she needed to see. Clothes littered the floor, half drunk wine glasses and a bottle on a small table by the bedside,
Her gaze followed the trail to the wide king-size bed where two bodies tangled in the sheets froze mid action.
The lady's hand was resting on the man's shoulders as he cradled her beneath him.
Alex's expression froze but just for a moment and his gaze turned cold.
"S-Sonia…?" it was as though he was tasting out the name.
Sonia didn't bother looking at him. Her gaze moved past him and landed on the woman inside. Recognition struck like lightning as she stared at the one person she trusted most.
