Vedant finished his plan and named the beast "Rotten Boar" because of its fitting appearance. As the beast charged, Vedant dodged as planned, and it slammed into a tree. The impact wasn't enough to break it in one go; it would need more. Vedant knew he had to finish this quickly. Though he was quick and strong, he lacked stamina, and a prolonged fight would cost him.
He improvised, standing just in front of the tree and dodging at the last, critical moment. This was a risky move, but he had to take the chance. He lured the beast away, running swiftly to the other side of the tree it had hit earlier. This time, he dodged at the very last moment, a critical maneuver. The beast's horn grazed him, piercing his right hand. It bled, but the wound was not vital.
Though the beast didn't break the tree, Vedant didn't hesitate. He rushed to the other side of the tree and delivered a powerful flying kick with his heel. The kick shattered the tree, which was already on the verge of breaking from the beast's impact. Just as he planned, the falling tree knocked down another one, and both toppled onto the beast. Vedant was caught in the falling trees as well but was relatively safe, while the beast was crushed in the center. Vedant had defeated it not with brute strength but with strategic thinking.
Despite his victory, he was injured. He just wanted to look "cool," so he sat on the tree that was directly above the beast's dead body and waited for Ron to return.
Ron came rushing back, as if a calamity had occurred. When he saw Vedant and the scene before him, he was shocked.
"What happened?" he asked, already having a basic idea.
"So, a beast appeared," Vedant said. "You could say it was the leader of these creatures, and I defeated it."
Ron was amazed, wondering how he could have defeated it without a weapon, but he quickly understood the strategy. While Ron could have easily defeated the beast, this was a huge accomplishment for a newcomer without any weapons.
Ron was in another hurry. "Let's head back to base. I found a ruin about five kilometers from here."
Vedant was impressed that Ron had traveled so far in such a short time, but he was in no condition to walk.
"Do you really think I can walk?" Vedant exclaimed with a hint of anger.
"Fine, I'll carry you," Ron said with disappointment.
Ron carried Vedant on his back, a situation Vedant found quite funny. Ron went at full speed, much faster than when they were coming. Vedant realized Ron had been holding back before. He joked about it, but Ron was annoyed and didn't listen, going straight to the base.
At the reception, they reported what had happened and confirmed the mission was complete. Ron also mentioned his discovery of a small ruin, which was surrounded by beasts. He could have explored it alone but didn't because he had left Vedant in the middle of nowhere.
The receptionist looked at Vedant. "You're injured. Why don't you go to the infirmary and get some rest? Ron, can you go with him?"
Ron agreed, feeling responsible for leaving the rookie behind.
