Ron led Vedant to the infirmary and left him there. "Go inside on your own. I have other work, so I'll be busy for the time being," he said, and then he left.
Now on his own, Vedant opened the door and was disappointed to see his teacher there. He wondered why she seemed to be everywhere.
"Are you the nurse here?" he asked.
The infirmary was a large place with about 30 luxurious-looking beds. It was also filled with important, expensive, and potentially life-saving tools and machines.
"Yes, that would be me," she replied. "How did you get so injured on your first mission? Didn't you go with Ron? He's strong. Maybe you ran off and got hit by a stone?" She seemed to enjoy teasing Vedant for some reason.
"Come sit here," she said, gesturing to a bed with pure white sheets. She began to clean and bandage his injuries, but there was a hint of mischief in her eyes. Vedant winced and made a few strange noises when she touched him.
"Would you stop that?" she exclaimed with an angry tone, as if she were scolding him. Vedant stopped and began to tell her about the incident. She laughed at his story. By the time he was finished, he was completely bandaged and ready to go to his room.
"Take care and get some rest, or else," she said with a tyrannical look in her eyes.
Vedant left for his room and jumped onto his bed, but the bandages made him wince in pain. He took out his phone, which he had left with a full battery. There was a new notification from Ron. Vedant wondered how Ron had gotten his number—maybe when he had his phone at the hotel.
The message read, "Read this document. It has things and details about the Crystalline Forest and the association," with a document attached.
Vedant opened the document and felt utterly lost. It was 548 pages long. He groaned, wondering how he could read something so lengthy, but then he remembered he wasn't just anyone. He loved reading long novels that were far longer than this. Despite his resolve, he felt dizzy and decided to sleep first.
