Vedant woke up a little late at noon since he had gone to bed late, but it didn't affect anything, as the investigation was scheduled to start after noon. After waking, he washed up and dressed in comfortable exercise clothes: a reliable, stretchy nylon jogger and a white T-shirt with a blue design, which he thought was as beautiful as a star in a white sky.
He went to the hall because he wanted to test a weapon and practice before leaving. He was allowed to rent a weapon for free for a certain time period. He went to the receptionist and asked for a weapon that would suit him. She showed him a variety of options: a katana, a rifle, a longsword, and many more.
"The most used weapons are the katana and our special rifle," she explained. "The rifle can transform into both a standard rifle and a sniper and is very light, whereas the katana makes melee fights easier and is more versatile."
Remembering his first fight and how he used a blade, he decided to take the katana.
"I would like to have that katana," he said.
"A katana? A nice choice," she replied. "You should consider practicing in the training hall behind you."
Vedant took his new katana, which was made of pure iron. Its tip was so sharp it felt like he could cut through anything. He went to the training hall, where he first practiced gliding the katana until he found his flow. He then did some exercises and practiced with the katana, focusing on slicing wood logs. He mastered the technique quickly, and after an hour of focused effort, he was able to cleanly slice a single wood log into 10 parts in less than a minute.
"This must be enough, I guess," he wondered.
He took a short rest and returned to the reception area, where the others were waiting for him. There were four people: Ron and three others who looked like they were part of an archaeological and scientific team. He walked up to them and asked if he was late, but no one answered. The time had come for them to head to the ruin.
