Third person POV
By 5 p.m., Arturo was now scrolling on his phone looking for Filipino stores so he could purchase Filipino snacks for Ranpo to try and review. Atsushi saw that while lugging around a stack of folders and papers. "What are you doing?"
"I'm searching for stores that sell Filipino snacks…" Arturo replied while his eyes were focused on the screen, "…Ranpo-san might want to try Filipino snacks…"
"Wow," Atsushi replied with a short, brief chuckle, "I hoped he liked them…"
With Atsushi returning to his task, Arturo searched for the percentage of two related people 3 generations apart from each other. He saw that it can be 12.5 percent, but some cases can go from 4% to 23%. "Hmm…" he muttered under his breath, before taking notes of it in his agenda journal.
And then, 5:30 p.m. came, and a mail of the DNA test of Atsushi and Arturo came in. The moment of truth settled in. Kunikida will be the one who will announce the results. Upon opening the papers, he took a glance of it and was agitated.
"What's wrong?" Atsushi asked.
"I can tell he was shocked by the results…" Arturo added.
"You two are…" Kunikida finally resumed.
He then showed the percentage, printed in bold letters, to the duo. "…you two are 20% related, if we count the generational gaps…"
Atsushi and Arturo were shocked.
While Arturo was calm and started processing the revelation, Atsushi was in tears, not knowing a branch in his family tree, the branch tucked away in Pampanga, the Philippines.
"Woah! Are you okay?" Arturo said to Atsushi.
"I…I…" Atsushi teared up, "…I didn't know there was a branch in my family tree, the one I never knew…"
Giving a pat on Atsushi's back, Arturo responded, "It's okay, by blood or not, we're family. You also have one in mine back in Angeles City, Pampanga."
Atsushi nodded while tearing up still, all the while Kunikida was on the verge of mental burnout and Dazai was doodling crabs on his papers, which Arturo's shadows erased with an eraser.
"Hey!" Dazai whined at that.
"Get back to work," Arturo fired back.
