Chapter 21 - Chapter 20 – Dazai’s ‘Painless Exit’

Arturo's POV

The first day of class went without a hitch. Since I only have a short homework for Criminology and Psychology in their first chapters, I had some free time this afternoon. So, I had a nice walk near a river here in Yokohama. Things are peaceful until…I saw a floating body in a trench coat floating on the water.

Seeing that, I recognized that beige trench coat.

Is that Dazai's?

"Hoy! Hold on!" I shouted, before hauling out his body from the water with my shadows.

He was wet, very wet, and he got up and coughed up a lot of water.

He looked at me. "Oh! Hey there, Arturo-kun! How's your first day in class?"

His line was the shift in his tone and mood.

"Are you okay?" I was more concerned. "Who threw you to the water?"

"Nothing!" Dazai chirped. "I was looking for a 'painless exit' from this world."

I was confused as flip: What does he mean by 'painless exit'?

"What the flip are you talking about?" I asked.

"DAZAI-SAN!" a familiar voice roared, cutting through the scene.

We looked at the right, and it was an infuriating Kunikida.

His eyes focused on Dazai.

"You waste of bandages!" he lunged at Dazai and pulled the back of his trench coat. "You wasted one hour of worktime by your nonsense search for a 'painless exit'!"

As Kunikida dragged away a struggling Dazai, I had no idea what kind of attitude Dazai have.

"Is that a desire to commit suicide?" my mind raced. "Painless exit sounds like hating life itself…"

I then followed from behind.

Back in the ADA, a stack of paperwork landed on Dazai's desk with a loud thud. "Do your paperwork," Kunikida said to Dazai with a deadly glare, "or I will chain your leg to your desk."

Dazai whined like a baby and picked up a pen.

Ranpo-san nearby was doubling over while munching on his snacks; his desk is full of them…

Hmm…maybe I can recommend some Filipino snacks like Fita and Cream-O (basically Filipino version of Oreo).

I was now writing a journal entry about today's event on a spare, unused desk with a cup of tea.
