Hayes looked into Euphoria's bright eyes, and for a fleeting second, his heart skipped a beat. He quickly averted his gaze, masks of indifference sliding back into place. "Where is your partner?" he asked, his voice steady.
Euphoria smiled, a soft, gentle warmth lighting up her eyes. "He went hunting."
Hayes knew, of course, that Luce was on a long journey and Wayne was out for the morning; he had simply reached for a reason to keep the conversation going. But seeing that tender expression on her face whenever she mentioned her mates made his chest tighten with a familiar, restless unease. His face turned cold—though to Euphoria, he always looked that way.
"You're pregnant?" Hayes asked.
