Chapter 5 - Become A Vtuber (2)

Once he was live, Jaeyi suddenly became lost.

He stood in front of his computer, and the avatar was doing the same thing. It dawned on him. He truly did not know what he was supposed to do.

Virel's lips curled, and its tail curled as though amused to watch its current master struggle.

Jaeyi brushed his hair, and the avatar did the same. He could not help but glance at it. Does the platform now support full-body tracking?

It somehow appeared smooth.

He looked at the viewer count and the glaring zero there. Jaeyi leaned on the seat. There was no one watching, so he did not need to do anything.

While waiting, he went to the background tab. He tried multiple ones before he settled on a dark background and him sitting on a rock.

"You look weird, heir," the cat spoke.

Jaeyi glanced at it. "Stop speaking. This might pick up your voice."

"And what's wrong with my voice?"

Jaeyi stared at it. There was no need to mention it. Virel rolled its eyes. His voice sounded like a child's somehow, because its current form was small.

"Don't worry, heir. This thing can't pick up my voice."

"Well, if you say so." The cat sounded confident. He would believe it for now.

As the two talked, a notification chimed at the side of the computer.

[1 viewer entered the stream]

Jaeyi blinked at it. Huh? There was a viewer already? But this was a big platform. So, the viewer might be here just to pass by.

Still, he could greet them. Jaeyi did not know how to be in character. Should Demon Lords need to act in a haughty and superior manner?

Just as he was thinking of how to greet the passing viewer, another notification and the viewer count turned 2. His eyes could not help but widen slightly.

Oh, now two people were watching him. Jaeyi felt anxious somehow. It was quite fortunate that he was not showing his real face.

Unbeknownst to Jaeyi, the avatar did not track his startled expressions at all, and it remained indifferent as it looked through the screen.

Other than that, it still tracks most of his movements.

"Hello?" Jaeyi greeted, sounding awkward. His greeting was completely out of character.

Virel held its head, embarrassed.

Jaeyi did know what to do! He opened this stream without any preparations at all. And even if he did, his performances might not be that different from his present.

There were no comments yet.

It was fine if his first stream was a failure. He was only trying it out. Jaeyi tried to console himself. He secretly opened his phone and looked up how to act as the fictional character.

His avatar looked down, but its expression was still devoid of any emotion. However, it did copy Jaeyi, propping on his chin and eventually closing its eyes.

It was because Jaeyi was looking down too much and watching, so it looked as if he were closing his eyes.

When he looked up again, and the avatar opened its eyes, Jaeyi was a bit startled when he saw the viewer count suddenly become 6. The avatar's crimson eyes merely flickered slightly to convey his emotions.

In the stream, he did not look dumb at all. In fact, because of the avatar's expression, he looked more intimidating than foolish.

Most viewers seemed drawn to the stream because of the avatar design and how smooth it looked. There was no shortage of visual fans in Streamix.

Still, no one was commenting. Jaeyi felt awkward inside, but he had to at least try. The video he watched did not teach him anything at all.

Virel watched him with interest.

With his head tilted and his hand propped under it, he let a smirk play on his lips. He was dying inside from cringe, but he forced himself not to become too stiff.

The avatar enhanced this image first.

"There are quite a few lost souls here." Jaeyi paused, clenching his hand. "...I suppose I should introduce myself now... or wait a little longer?"

The viewer count turned 10. Jaeyi let out a breath. He forced himself to continue. How then could he test his ability to bewitch people? Although he was not quite sure how to confirm it through the stream.

He looked at the side where the comments were displayed. None of them was commenting. Wait, were these 10 viewers real people or bots?

"...is anyone there?" Jaeyi dropped his act for a moment. "Can you comment?" He realized it and almost facepalmed again. "I mean... Can someone give a response?"

The avatar did not change the tone of his voice but only enhanced it slightly. It seemed the avatar only filtered those gestures of his.

There was silence, but the viewer count did increase and was now 18.

Jaeyi narrowed his eyes, and the avatar made it more terrifying. It was as though showing how displeased he was that no one was giving any response.

Wait, were these actually bots?

But suddenly, someone commented.

aint_a_stan: !!! you look scary handsome!!!! sounds awkward tho

Jaeyi tilted his head. Huh? Wait, this was the first comment. And quickly followed by another.

lckmyas: you're weird but kind of good weird? idk how to explain

genubaby: a new vtuber and still awkward, but I love your avatar!!!!

Jaeyi was inwardly shocked that no one commented in the first few minutes, but suddenly there were three at once!

His hand clenched again. Jaeyi glanced at Virel, who was watching but not saying anything. It looked unimpressed.

Jaeyi straightened in his seat. He decided not to do anything in his first stream and prepared for his second stream instead. However, he had to get used to his character.

He turned solemn slightly. And again, as his expression was always enhanced by his avatar, it became more intense in the stream.

aint_a_stan: the hell!!! I love your expressions. Can I ask how you managed these? Did the platform update???

flufflycloud: got jumpscared!

Jaeyi ignored those comments for now.

"It seems many of you have gathered here... and are waiting for my command." Jaeyi paused, his eyes sharpened, and so did the avatar's crimson eyes, gazing through the camera.

Anyone who was looking at the screen became dazed for a moment.

"Next time... Do not make me repeat myself."

Every viewer's eyes flashed at the command. Jaeyi himself did not know about this. Only the black cat, Virel, sensed it. Its pupils dilated and looked at the screen before returning to Jaeyi.

It was a weak influence, but this might really work.
