Chapter 4 - Become A Vtuber (1)

Jaeyi clicked on the video and decided to watch it. Vtubers were not unknown to him. In fact, it has actually become so popular in recent years.

He was not just interested before, and his job demanded more of his time to even keep up with the trends.

"What is that?" The cat, Virel, looked at the screen.

He did not answer but let the cat watch with him as the video played. It was more of a short introduction to the VTuber world and not really a tutorial.

Vtubers could stream as the fictional character they chose, without revealing their real identities. This was what interested him more.

"Do you think this is feasible?" Jaeyi asked the cat, which could be used as a guide to this Demon Lord thing. He was not fully convinced yet, but it was better to believe than not.

After all, this concerned his safety.

Virel watched with him. Jaeyi glanced at it. The cat looked back at him.

"This is going to be slow, heir. Why don't you try my suggestion first?"

Jaeyi stopped listening to it the moment he understood that his idea was feasible. He did not care if it was going to be slow as long as there would be results.

He focused on watching tutorial videos and such. Jaeyi hoped to start as soon as possible. He was not really into popularity, but he could test what Virel said about his ability.

Fortunately, he was free today.

Jaeyi was not sure how to do this... but, he opened the leading streaming app, Streamix. From what he could see, this was one they recommended the most.

This might not be for beginners like him, but he needed audience reach. And what was more, he would start as an individual without agency behind him.

Popular Vtubers debut like celebrities nowadays; most came from the big agencies. While his thoughts ran, his fingers did not stop typing.

Once he was inside the creator registration, Jaeyi paused. In fact, creating an account was simple, but this one stumped him. From what he remembered, most of what he put here could not be changed anymore, as one had to start the Vtuber identity here.

His fictional character had to be set up, too. Jaeyi stroked his cheek, turning to the black cat beside him. Their eyes locked.

"What do you think is a good character I should play?"

"Character?" The cat's ears twitched, barely understanding. Jaeyi had to explain it again. It then stared at him as if he were an idiot for thinking too far.

"You don't need to think so much, heir. Isn't your identity the best one to use?"

"My identity?" He paused before he realised. "You mean, being a demon lord?"

The cat visibly rolled its eyes.

"What else?"

Jaeyi thought about it, and the cat had a good point. This might even help him hide his real purpose and act just like a demon lord. Everyone would think he was just acting under the character.

He hoped no one had used this yet. Although some might find similar characters, it would be better if it were unique.

Jaeyi did not have time to think of a good name.

He put, Great Demon Lord " in the box. The cat, Virel, consumed most of his memories and thus could read the words. It nodded, seemingly pleased.

For it, there was no need for fancy names.

When the small green check appeared, Jaeyi could not help but sigh. None has used this yet. He put the unique ID as the same and saw the small green check again.

The other fields were minority; he just typed whatever. When he reached the upload fields, he paused yet again.

This was the trickier part.

He looked again at the tutorial. Vtubers generally use an animated image of their persona or characters. He did not have one. Should he commission one? But if he did, a second person would know what he was doing.

Of course, that person might never know where he used the image, but still. The others were more complicated, something he could not even do.

Jaeyi lazily leaned on his seat, his eyes automatically meeting Virel's eyes.

The two stared for a moment at each other. The cat sighed again.

"I may have to use my little power left," it glared at Jaeyi. "You have to make this work, heir. replenished our power as soon as possible." As a companion of the demon lord, most of its power actually came from its master.

Jaeyi nodded, though he could not understand.

"What character is good?" The cat skillfully operated the computer. Jaeyi watched in amazement.

It merely searched for what characters were used.

Virel nodded, deciding on the best image for its master. It put its paws on the screen as the file was being uploaded. Jaeyi had stopped questioning it but was still surprised.

He enlarged and checked the model that the cat created. It was a 3D model of a man with red hair and red pupils.

"Oh, it looks good."

Virel looked smug. "Of course, this one created it."

His setup was more than complete. At this stage, he did not need advanced equipment at all. And he had no time or money to buy one.

Jaeyi looked at it one more time. The more he stared at it, the more he noticed how exquisite it was. For some reason, it looked so alive even.

Of course, it was just a 3D avatar.

What he did not know was that it was far from simple as just a 3D model since it was a model directly related to the demon lord.

His account was completed. There were verifications needed here and there, but he ignored them. He was not interested in being contracted at this moment.

Even if he did, no one would sign him either.

"Are you going to stream, heir?"

Jaeyi nodded.

"What are you going to do?" It asked again, loafing beside the table.

"Nothing," Jaeyi answered with a straight face.

The cat's ears twitched but did not argue; for once, he was only watching Jaeyi set up and start his first-ever stream.

Streaming was simple: put the target model and the camera would just track his facial expressions while the avatar did its thing.
