The gate appeared again.
But different.
Not leading forward.
Not leading out.
Leading inward.
Eryx stood in front of it.
Still.
Mira behind him.
Shaking.
But standing.
Ashar beside them.
Silent.
Mira whispered.
"…If we go through that…"
Ashar finished it.
"There's no reset after."
Eryx looked at the gate.
For the first time—
it didn't feel like survival.
It felt like truth.
He exhaled slowly.
"…Then that's fine."
Mira grabbed his arm.
"…Eryx—wait."
He looked at her.
Calm.
Not distant.
Just certain.
"If I don't go," he said quietly,
"…this never ends."
Silence.
Mira's grip loosened slightly.
"…Then I'm coming too."
Ashar stepped forward.
"Me too."
Eryx nodded once.
Then stepped forward.
The gate reacted.
Not violently.
Recognizing.
"Subject recognized."
"Final layer access granted."
A pause.
Then—
"Welcome back."
Eryx froze slightly.
"…Back?"
The world flickered.
For a split second—
Something underneath everything showed.
Not school.
Not layer.
A structure.
Endless.
Built.
Alive.
Mira whispered.
"…What is that…"
Ashar's voice dropped.
"…The origin layer."
Eryx stepped forward slowly.
"…So this is where it starts."
The system responded.
"No."
A pause.
"This is where you stopped last time."
Silence.
Eryx didn't move.
And for the first time in Book 1—
he didn't look like a student.
He looked like a return.
