Chapter 4 - Two Paths One Beginning

Scene 1: Anaya Enters the Café (First Meeting with Mahi)

The café was quieter than usual that afternoon.

Soft music played in the background. Cups clinked. Steam rose from machines.

Mahi stood behind the counter, tying a fresh order slip.

She was focused.

Calm.

As always.

Then the door bell rang.

A new customer entered.

Anaya's Entrance

Anaya stepped inside, holding her bag and a notebook.

She looked around carefully — observant, sharp, like she was already analyzing the place.

Her eyes stopped briefly on Mahi.

Something about her felt… different.

Not loud. Not attention-seeking.

Just quiet in a way that felt intentional.

First Interaction

Anaya walked to the counter.

"Hi, can I get a coffee? Black."

Mahi nodded.

"Anything else?"

A pause.

Anaya smiled slightly.

"No… I think that's it."

But instead of leaving, Anaya stayed near the counter, watching her write the order.

"You work here every day?" Anaya asked casually.

"Yes."

"Don't you get bored?"

Mahi thought for a second.

"No."

That simple answer made Anaya tilt her head slightly.

Interesting.

First Connection

While waiting for coffee, Anaya noticed something on the counter — a small notebook partially hidden behind menu cards.

Not a café notebook.

Something personal.

Mahi quickly shifted it away.

A small silence passed.

Anaya didn't ask.

She just smiled.

"I'm Anaya, by the way."

A pause.

"Mahi."

That was it.

No big introduction.

No drama.

But something started there.

Small.

Quiet.

Real.

Scene Transition: Kriti's Struggle

Meanwhile…

Far from the café, Kriti stood in front of a glass building.

Her first job workplace.

Ayaan had personally arranged it.

And she hated it already.

Kriti at Work

Inside the office, Kriti was sitting awkwardly at a desk, scrolling through her phone under the table.

A senior employee walked past.

"Miss Kriti, this report is due."

She looked up slowly.

"…Can someone else do it?"

Silence.

The employee stared.

"No."

Kriti sighed dramatically.

"This is so boring…"

Conflict Begins

Her attitude didn't go unnoticed.

A supervisor approached.

"You were hired because of Ayaan Sir's recommendation. That doesn't mean you can avoid work."

Kriti frowned.

"Do you even know who my uncle is?"

The supervisor didn't react.

"That's exactly why you should work properly."

That hit differently.

Kriti's First Breakdown Moment

For the first time, Kriti didn't have a comeback.

No money solution.

No shortcut.

No escape.

Just work.

She clenched her fingers slightly.

"…Fine."

But her tone wasn't happy.

It was frustrated.

And for the first time, she realized—

This world didn't care about her uncle's name.

Back at the café…

Anaya took her coffee and sat near the window.

She glanced at Mahi working quietly.

Something about her kept pulling attention.

She didn't know why.

But she felt like—

this girl had a story no one had heard yet.

And she wanted to know it.

At the same time…

Kriti stared at her computer screen, realizing something uncomfortable:

Her old life wasn't going to help her here anymore.
