Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Very Unprofessional Death

The operating room was silent-too silent.

Only the steady rhythm of the heart monitor and the faint clinking of surgical instruments filled the

air

Under the harsh white lights, she stood-calm, focused, terrifyingly precise.

"Scalpel."

Her voice was steady, almost emotionless.

A nurse immediately placed it in her hand.

"Blood pressure?" she asked without looking up.

"Dropping slightly, doctor."

"Stabilize it. Increase the dosage by 2 milligrams.

No hesitation. No panic.

Her hands moved with practiced perfection, stitching flesh like it was second nature-because it was.

Hours passed.

One surgery turned into two.

Two turned into three.

By the time she finally stepped out of the operating room, the sky outside had already darkened.

She pulled off her gloves, rolling her shoulders slightly.

"Doctor, you should rest-"

"I'll rest when my patients stop trying to die on me," she replied dryly, already walking down the

hallway.

She checked every patient personally.

Room 302-stable. Room 305-complaining, Good, that meant he was alive Room 310-finally out of danger.

Only after making sure everyone was fine did she allow herself to breathe.

"Alright," she muttered, grabbing her coat. "If I don't leave now, I might actually start living here."

And that's when her life ended.

Not in a dramatic accident.

Not in some heroic sacrifice.

No.

Right in the middle of the road.

She had barely taken ten steps outside the hospital when-

Her vision blurred.

Ah

Her body swayed.

"Should've... eaten something..."

And just like that-

Darkness

...Then light.

A sharp, sterile smell hit her senses first.

Antiseptic.

Her eyes snapped open.

"Hospital?"

She stared at the ceiling.

White

Too white.

Too... unfamiliar.

Frowning slightly, she pushed herself up.

"Did they admit me after I fainted?" she muttered, glancing around.

The room was... strange.

The equipment looked outdated, yet expensive. The layout wasn't like any hospital she had

worked in.

"..This doesn't look like my hospital."

And then-

She noticed him.

A man sat beside her bed, leaning back in a chair,

eyes closed-apparently asleep.

Her brows furrowed.

Who is that?"

Carefully, she swung her legs off the bed and

stood up.

No dizziness

No weakness

"That's suspicious."

Step by step, she approached him.

And then-

She froze.

"..Wow."

That was the only word her brain could produce.

He was-

Ridiculously handsome.

Sharp features. Pale skin. Long lashes resting

against his cheeks. Even asleep, he looked.. intimidating.

Yeah, no wonder," she whispered. "This face screams 'male lead."

Curiosity got the better of her.

She leaned closer.

"Let me just confirm are you real or did I hit my head too hard?"

Slowly, she raised her hand-

Just a tiny touch-

And suddenly-

GRAB

Her wrist was caught mid-air.

Her eyes widened.

The man's eyes opened-cold, sharp, and utterly terrifying.

"Oh," she blinked. "So you're alive. Good to know"

His grip tightened slightly.

"Who allowed you to move?"

"My legs?" she replied honestly.

A dangerous silence fell between them.

Then-

He stood up.

Tall. Even more intimidating.

"If you're awake," he said coldly, releasing her hand, "then sign the contract."

"I'm sorry, what?"

He didn't repeat himself,

Instead, he placed a file on the table beside her.

"Read it. Sign it."

She stared at him like he had just spoken in another language.

"Okay, I feel like I missed a few chapters here," she

said slowly. "Who are you? Why am I here? And why do you look like you walked out of a

billionaire romance novel?"

His expression didn't change.

"If you don't sign," he said flatly, "I will take your blood regardless"

"Excuse me??"

"And if necessary," he continued, his voice tuming colder, "I will kill you to do so."

Silence

She blinked.

Once

Twice.

"Wow," she nodded slowly. "Straight to murder. No small talk, no introduction. I respect the

efficiency"

His gaze darkened.

"You have one hour."

With that, he turned-and left.

...Silence.

Okay."

She stood there for a moment.

What

Then-

A voice.

Cold. Mechanical. Inside her head.

[System Activated.]

She froze

No.

[Host has successfully awakened.]

No no no.

[Welcome to the novel: -]

"...Absolutely not."

[You are currently inhabiting the body of the villainess.

She covered her face.

I'm dreaming. This is a stress-induced hallucination. I need water."

[Mission: Clear all three stages to return to your original world.]

Three stages??"

[Failure will result in permanent death.]

That sounds illegal."

The system continued mercilessly:

[Current Identity: Wife of the Male Lead.]

[Role: Blood donor.]

[Fate: Death due to excessive blood extraction.]

Silence.

"..I'm sorry," she said slowly. "Did you just say... blood donor?"

[Confirmed.]

So I'm-what-human juice box??"

[Confirmed.]

*I hate this place."

She paced the room,

"Okay. Calm down. Think. I'm a doctor. I deal with worse things."

Pause.

"Actually, no, I don't. This is new."

She suddenly walked toward the window.

"Alright. New plan,"

She opened it,

Cool air rushed in.

She looked down.

11th floor."

She immediately closed it.

"Yeah, no. I choose life."

A few minutes later...

The door opened.

He was back.

Cold. Composed. Annoyingly handsome.

He placed the contract in front of her again.

"Time's up."

She looked at it.

Then at him.

Then back at it.

You know," she said casually, "threatening people isn't a very romantic way to start a

marriage."

His expression darkened.

"Sign."

Alright, alright. No need to rush, Mr. Blood

Vampire."

She picked up the contract and started reading.

At first, she looked bored.

Then-

She paused.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Wait."

She flipped the page.

Wait

Another page.

WAIT

She looked up at him.

"Did I read this correctly?"

He didn't respond.

"For every bag of blood..." she continued slowly, you're paying one million?"

Silence.

Her lips curled.

A slow, dangerous smirk.

Oh

She picked up the pen.

"You should've started with that."

Without hesitation-

She signed.

Then pushed the contract back toward him.

"Pleasure doing business," she said cheerfully. "Looking forward to our very healthy, totally not

concerning relationship."

He stared at her.

For the first time-

His expression shifted.

Confusion

Suspicion,

"You're different," he said quietly.

She tilted her head.

"Of course I am," she smiled.

"Would the old me agree so easily?"

A pause.

Then-

She leaned back, completely relaxed.

"Don't worry," she added lightly. "I'm very

cooperative as long as the price is right."

Her eyes gleamed.

Sharp. Calculating.

Amused.

"After all," she murmured,

"If I'm going to be used..."

I might as well get rich doing it."
