The air had changed.
It wasn't loud. It wasn't obvious.
But it was there.
A shift.
Subtle. Heavy. Watching.
Kang Sera leaned back in her chair, lazily spinning a pen between her fingers, completely unbothered.
"... If he stares any harder, I might actually combust," she muttered.
Across the office-
Han Jiheon was, in fact, staring.
Not openly.
Not obviously.
But his gaze kept drifting back to her.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Inside the Office
The file was still in his hand.
Perfect.
Too perfect.
Jiheon's fingers tightened slightly.
"...No mistakes," he murmured.
Not a single miscalculation.
Not a single overlooked clause.
Even his senior managers had failed to clean that project for months.
And yet-
She did it overnight.
"...Kang Sera," he said quietly, testing the name.
Something wasn't adding up.
Outside
Minwoo leaned closer to Sera.
"...You're in trouble."
She raised a brow.
"Am I getting fired already? That was fast."
"No," he whispered. "Worse."
"...Unpaid overtime?"
"...The CEO is interested in you."
She paused.
Then slowly turned her head toward Jiheon's office.
"...Oh."
A small smile appeared.
"...That is worse."
The Summons
A moment later
The intercom buzzed.
"Come in."
Sera stood up.
Wish me luck," she said.
Minwoo made a small praying gesture
I'll prepare your funeral."
Inside
She walked in casually, hands in her pockets.
"You called?"
Jiheon didn't respond immediately.
He simply placed the file on the table.
Explain
She glanced at it.
"Oh. That"
"Yes. That."
She tilted her head slightly,
"You gave me a problem. I solved it."
"That's not an explanation."
Do you want me to dramatize it?" she asked, "I can add background music if needed."
His eyes darkened slightly.
"Kang Sera"
She sighed.
"Fine, fine."
She walked closer, pointing at the file.
"This section," she tapped lightly, "had conflicting
clauses. Whoever wrote it tried to be clever but
falled."
Another page.
"The financial inconsistency here? Intentional."
His gaze sharpened.
"Intentional?"
She nodded.
"Mhm. Someone's skimming. Not a lot-just
enough to go unnoticed."
Silence.
And you noticed,"
"Of course," she said simply. "It was obvious."
Tension Builds
Jiheon stepped closer.
You expect me to believe that?"
She looked up at him.
Calm. Unafraid.
"Believe whatever you want," she shrugged. "I'm
just doing my job."
A pause
Long
Heavy
"...You've never shown this level of competence
before," he said slowly.
She smiled.
"People change."
"That much
Maybe you never paid attention."
Silence.
The Shift
For a moment-
Neither of them spoke.
Then-
Jiheon turned away.
"You'll handle this project moving forward."
She blinked
Promotion already?"
"This isn't a reward."
"Everything feels like a reward when you're rich."
*You'll also attend meetings with me."
Her smile widened.
Oh? Am I finally part of the elite?"
"You're under observation"
"Ah," she nodded. "So I'm a suspicious
employee."
"Yes"
Good, I'd be offended if I wasn't."
Outside Again
Sera walked out.
Minwoo rushed over immediately.
Are you alive?"
"Barely," she said dramatically, placing a hand on
her chest.
What happened??"
"I got promoted."
WHAT??"
New Character Enters 00
Before Minwoo could process that-
A woman approached.
Elegant,
Graceful
Sharp eyes that missed nothing.
"Mrs. Han."
Sera turned.
"Yes?"
The woman smiled slightly.
"Lee Seorin. Head of Public Relations"
Sera studied her.
You look like someone who knows everything."
Seorin chuckled softly.
try.
Dangerous
Seprin's gaze flickered with interest.
"And you," she said, "are not what I expected."
Sera smiled
"I hear that a lot today"
Subtle Warning
Seprin stepped closer.
Lowering her voice just slightly.
"You should be careful."
Sera blinked.
Of what?"
"Of being too capable"
A pause
People don't like unexpected variables."
Sera's smile didn't fade.
"If they don't like it," she said lightly,
"They can adjust."
Seorin held her gaze for a moment-
Then smiled.
Interesting."
And walked away.
End Scene
From inside his office-
Han Jiheon watched everything.
Her confidence.
Her ease
Her unpredictability.
She's not the same," he murmured.
Not weak.
Not desperate.
Not obedient
His eyes darkened slightly.
And I don't like variables I can't control."
Outside-
Sera stretched lazily.
"This is getting fun."
Her eyes gleamed.
Playful
Sharp
Dangerous
"Let's see," she whispered,
"who gets tired first."
