Chapter 8 - apter 8: Laughter in the Silence.

For a brief moment, everything stilled.

The laughter that had just filled the room faded into quiet breaths, uneven and unfamiliar. Kang Sera remained where she was, her hand still loosely gripping his sleeve, her chest rising and falling as she tried to calm down.

Across from her, Han Jiheon had gone completely silent.

His gaze was fixed on her.

Not cold.

Not distant.

Just... watching.

Sera blinked, the playful glint still lingering in her eyes. "What?" she asked, her voice softer now, though the smile on her lips hadn't disappeared. "Did you just discover a new emotion?"

He didn't respond immediately.

Instead, he moved.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

Closer.

Sera's smile faltered just a little.

"...Why are you coming closer like that?" she asked, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. "I don't like this energy."

Still, he said nothing.

His expression remained unreadable, but there was something different in his eyes now-something quieter, sharper.

And then-

Without warning-

His hand moved.

"Wait-"

Too late.

His fingers found her side.

Sera gasped.

Then-

She burst into laughter.

"Jiheon-! What are you doing-?!"

Her body jerked away instantly, trying to escape, but he was faster this time. His grip was firm, steady, as he pulled her back toward him without effort.

"You started it," he said, his voice low, almost calm-completely unfitting for what he was doing.

"That doesn't mean-stop-!" she tried to twist away, but every attempt only made it worse as his fingers moved again, merciless and precise.

Her laughter filled the room, uncontrollable now, her usual composure completely shattered.

"You're insane-! Let go-!"

"No."

"That's not how this works-!"

She tried to push him away, her hands pressing against his shoulders, but it was useless. He didn't budge.

Instead, he leaned closer.

Closer-

And her escape routes disappeared completely.

"Jiheon-!" she half-laughed, half-protested, her voice breaking as she struggled to breathe. "You're abusing your power-!"

"You're exaggerating."

"I can't breathe-!"

"That sounds like a personal issue."

Her hair fell messily over her face as she twisted again, trying to slip away from his hold.

It didn't work.

Instead-

Her balance broke.

And in the next second-

They both fell.

A soft thud echoed through the room as they landed on the floor, the sheets half-dragged down with them.

Silence followed.

Short

Unexpected.

Sera blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Her laughter slowly faded into quiet breaths as she found herself... still trapped.

Jiheon was right there.

Too close.

Closer than before.

For a moment-

Neither of them moved.

Then-

Sera let out a small laugh.

Soft this time.

Uncontrolled.

"...You're ridiculous," she murmured, shaking her head slightly.

Jiheon exhaled quietly, a faint trace of something almost like a smile flickering at the edge of his lips before it disappeared again.

"...You started it," he repeated, though his voice had lost its earlier edge.

"Mm," she hummed lightly, still smiling. "And you finished it."

Another pause.

But this one-

Was different.

Warmer.

Lighter.

Slowly, they pulled away from each other, the distance returning-but not quite the same as before.

Sera pushed herself up first, brushing off her clothes lazily.

"Well," she said, glancing at the mess they had created, "we successfully destroyed the bed."

Jiheon sat up, running a hand through his slightly disheveled hair, his expression returning to its usual calm.

"...Fix it."

"Of course," she replied easily, already walking back toward it. "CEO orders must be followed."

A Quiet Ending

They fixed the bed in silence.

No arguments.

No sharp words.

Just small movements, shared space, and an unspoken understanding that neither of them acknowledged.

Once done, Sera slipped under the blanket again, this time keeping a noticeable distance.

"...Don't worry," she said, her voice quieter now, eyes already closing, "I'll try not to attack you in my sleep."

Jiheon lay down beside her, his gaze fixed on the ceiling once more.

"...You better."

"...No promises."

A few seconds passed.

Then minutes.

And this time-

Sleep came.

For both of them.

Meanwhile...

Outside the room-

Two figures stood quietly in the hallway.

Mrs. Han lowered her hand from the door, her expression soft, almost emotional.

"...Did you hear that?" she whispered.

Mr. Han nodded slightly, his usual stern gaze gentler than before.

"...Laughter," he said.

A small smile appeared on her lips.

"...It's been a long time since this house sounded like that."

She glanced at the closed door, her eyes warm.

"...She's good for him."

Mr. Han didn't disagree.

"...It seems so."

End Scene

Inside the room-

The silence returned.

But it was no longer empty.
