Chapter 70 - CHAPTER 69: CHOOSING EACH OTHER—FULLY

❤️

They met where everything once felt uncertain. Not because it was romantic. But because it was honest. The same place where they had once started over. And almost lost each other again.

Sofia arrived first. Hands steady. Heart calmer than she expected. She wasn't afraid anymore. Not of losing him. Not of choosing wrong.

Because this time— she already knew herself.

Kenzo arrived a few minutes later. He stopped when he saw her. And for a second— everything around them faded again.

But this time, it didn't feel like distance. It felt like arrival.

"You came," Sofia said softly.

Kenzo smiled faintly. "Of course I did."

Silence followed. But it wasn't heavy anymore. It was full of everything they had finally understood.

Kenzo took a slow breath. "I ended things with Elia," he said honestly.

Sofia nodded. "I ended things with Adrian too."

No shock. No confusion. Just truth aligning itself between them.

"I think we both knew this was coming," Kenzo said quietly.

Sofia looked at him. "Yeah… I think we just needed to be sure." A pause. Then softer— "Are you sure now?" she asked.

Kenzo didn't hesitate. This time, there was no uncertainty left to fight. "Yes," he said simply. Sofia exhaled slowly. Not in relief. But in acceptance. "And you?" he asked gently.

She stepped a little closer. Not rushed. Not hesitant. Just certain. "Yes," she answered.

A long silence followed. But it wasn't empty. It was the kind of silence that only comes after truth has finally been spoken.

Kenzo looked at her for a long moment. Then said quietly— "I don't want us to repeat the past."

Sofia nodded. "We won't."

"How do you know?" he asked softly.

Sofia smiled faintly. "Because we're not the same people who broke apart."

That landed deeply in him. Not as hope. But as fact.

Kenzo stepped closer now. This time, there was no hesitation. No fear of timing. Only presence. "I don't want a perfect version of us," he admitted. "I just want a real one."

Sofia's voice softened. "Then let's not build something perfect." A pause. "Let's build something honest."

Kenzo nodded slowly. "And stay this time?"

Sofia looked at him for a long moment. Not searching. Not doubting. Just knowing. "Yes," she said.

And this time— it didn't feel like fear. It felt like choice.

Kenzo exhaled, like something inside him had finally settled after years of drifting. "I never stopped loving you," he admitted quietly.

Sofia smiled softly. "I know." A pause. Then she added— "I never really stopped either."

Silence again. But this one was warm.

Kenzo gently reached for her hand. And this time— there was no question in it. No uncertainty. Just certainty earned through everything they had survived.

Sofia held it back immediately. Like she had been waiting for this version of them all along.

"I think this time," Kenzo said softly, "we finally understand what love actually is."

Sofia tilted her head slightly. "And what is it?"

Kenzo smiled faintly. "Choosing each other… even after everything that tried to make us stop."

Sofia's eyes softened. "Then we're doing it right now."

Kenzo nodded. "Yeah."

And for the first time in their entire story— there was no distance between their hearts.

Not emotional. Not physical. Not uncertain. Just two people who had lost each other once… and finally found their way back— not as who they were, but as who they had become.

And this time— they stayed.
