Shirokami hadn't even processed what was happening. All he felt was a soft, warm object pressing against his lips—plump and incredibly comforting.
The girl's mind, meanwhile, had gone completely blank. She had absolutely no idea what to do.
"Mmm!"
Shirokami subconsciously licked his lips, only to hear a shy, stifled whimper from the girl. The sound instantly snapped him back to reality, and he scrambled backward in a panic.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" Shirokami apologized profusely, waving his hands defensively.
Despite his panic, he couldn't stop himself from smacking his lips a couple of times, as if deeply nostalgic for the lingering taste of her kiss.
This was a serious issue. Stealing a girl's innocence—no matter what world you were in—was no laughing matter.
"Pfft... hehehe!"
However, Shirokami's flustered state only amused the girl. She couldn't help but cover her mouth and giggle, her laughter ringing out as clear and pleasant as silver bells. Yet, if one looked closely, they would catch the faint trace of playful resentment hiding in her eyes.
Grumble!
Right at that moment, Shirokami's stomach let out a thunderous growl. His face instantly flushed crimson, making him look surprisingly endearing.
"Haha!"
The girl couldn't hold back anymore and burst into full laughter. It was a sweet, lark-like melody that gently swept across Shirokami's heart.
"Oh, right! You need to come with me, quickly! There's a huge favor I need to ask of you. If it's you... I think you can actually pull it off!"
Suddenly remembering the crisis at hand, the girl grabbed Shirokami's hand and broke into a sprint. But before she could take even two steps, her legs gave out, and she tumbled to the ground.
"Are you okay?" Shirokami quickly helped her up, his voice filled with concern.
"I'm fine! But the village chief and the others are definitely in mortal danger right now! There's no way those pirates will let them off the hook. We have to hurry—please, help me save them!"
The girl stood up, clutching Shirokami's hands desperately as she pleaded.
"Alright. Point the way, and I'll save them!"
Hearing the sheer desperation in her voice, Shirokami knew he couldn't refuse. He scooped her up into a bridal carry and looked down at her.
"Go straight, then just head over that mountain and we're there!" she said hurriedly, a flash of deep gratitude crossing her face.
"Got it. Hold on tight!"
Shirokami nodded, giving her a quick warning. Before she could even begin to understand what he meant, he slammed his foot onto the ground and rocketed straight into the sky.
"Ahhh!"
The sudden, explosive launch naturally terrified the girl, ripping a scream of pure fear from her throat.
Swoosh!
But Shirokami wasn't finished.
Just as his momentum peaked and gravity threatened to pull him back down, three distinct pillars of brilliant white light erupted from beneath his feet and abdomen. The thrust generated a massive upward force, propelling him forward like a jet plane straight over the mountain peak.
The entire maneuver took no more than two seconds.
Meanwhile, in the village square!
"Heheh, how amusing. Since you've decided to call me a villain, I might as well show you exactly how villains operate. Grab her!"
Ulysses burst into sinister laughter, shooting a dark look at the two lackeys standing beside him.
"You got it, Boss!"
Receiving their orders, the two goons flashed bloodthirsty grins, lunging toward the little girl like ravenous wolves.
"Grandpa, I'm scared!"
The sheer malice on their faces terrified the child. She stumbled back a few steps, hiding herself behind the old man. Her chubby little hands tightly gripped his pant leg, and her delicate, doll-like face was a mask of utter horror.
She had no way of knowing that her grandfather could barely even protect himself.
And yet, in the face of absolute devotion to family, even the fear of death could be temporarily suppressed.
