The Boy slowly got used to the company of the 3 friends and as he watched the 3, he realized that, as it turned out, they were all at the age of 16 of which he himself was the same. He slowly got used to the atmosphere of the village and as it turned night, he was taken by Kiryas to his house.
"Hehe, as you don't have anywhere to go for the night, I'll let you stay with me for a while as my parents aren't going to be back for a while due to being placed onto the team to hunt for that wolflike creature with the village chief"
Kiryas's parents were both strong and capable people as it turned out however their child was a notorious troublemaker in the village and constantly caused trouble, but he was never punished too harshly due to his parents.
The Boy, knowing this, decided to stick close to him as the benefits of being close to him would allow him to get through this nightmare much easier.
Several days passed before the chief and his group came back and the village residents all came to the gate to welcome them back, but what came wasn't what they had expected. The group had been cut in half with many looking deathly pale and even the chief looked affected by whatever had befallen them.
The chief shouted at the residents to put aside a large size for them as they had been infected by some sort of plague. Kiryas, Atlas, Agate, and the Boy watched the people recede like a tide with Kiryas looking expectantly at the group for his parents.
His eyes lit up as he noticed a man among the group of hunters, but his joy eventually turned from joy to confusion as he tried to push through the crowd and approach the man. The chief noticed this and fear sparked in his eyes as he shouted for Kiryas not to come. Kiryas, either not having noticed it or deliberately ignored it, continued forward before the chief drew an arrow from his quiver and shot it in front of the boy with his bow.
Frightened, Kiryas jumped back with greater confusion evident in his eyes as he stared at the chief. The other residents pulled him back from the front of the crowd back into it. Kiryas's father, presumably, looked on with fear before relief allowed his shoulders to drop and continued to walk with the others.
Later, it was revealed that when the group was out to search for that wolf, their group suddenly all started to weaken from some sort of sickness and the wolf, perhaps noticing this, ambushed the group and with the chief himself being weakened by the sickness, to the point where his aspect was affected, hadn't noticed its presence which allowed the clever creature to devour most of the group.
Even while weakened, the group still managed to deal the abominable creature fatal wounds after many sacrifices and managed to slay the creature but due to its size, they couldn't bring it back. Perhaps if they had been in their best condition they might've but as they were affected physically, they left the corpse behind.
Now, under the command of the chief, the chief and others locked themselves away in a building so as to prevent the spread of the sickness. The Boy, observing this with his mind, came to the conclusion that his attribute may have been the reason why they were all affected. He kept it to himself as revealing it would bring nothing but trouble.
...
A few days have passed since then, and the Boy watched the building in which the infected were in and noticed lights that shot into the sky from the building which were bright enough to be compared to the luminous memories which the awakened in the Dream Realm used.
Kiryas had noticeably quieted down compared to his lively demeanor from before and due to this, Atlas and Agate dragged the Boy with them to discuss this problem.
"Kiryas hasn't seemed himself recently. We need to do something so that he'll go back to how he was before"
Agate, seemingly more outspoken compared to Atlas, speaks first with Atlas nodding silently to her words.
The Boy, however, stares at them with no emotion on his face or eyes and the 2, seeing this, shiver as they look away from him. Agate still makes an effort to include the Boy in the conversation, but he remains motionless and continues staring blankly at them to the point which he seemed almost.... inhuman.
