The next morning, Pari woke up and picked up her phone. She saw that Shuvo had already called her. When she called him back, Shuvo quickly answered and said,
"I'm sorry for calling so early."
Pari replied gently,
"It's okay, no problem."
Slowly, Pari had also started to like Shuvo.
Shuvo said,
"Go freshen up and have your breakfast. I'll call you again later."
After that, Shuvo got out of bed, freshened up, and sat at the breakfast table, humming a song happily.
His grandmother noticed and said,
"My grandson looks very happy today. What's the matter?"
Shuvo smiled and said,
"Grandma, I talked to that girl on the phone… it feels so peaceful."
His grandmother asked warmly,
"When will you introduce her to me?"
Shuvo replied,
"Let things become stronger between us first."
Just then, his mother came to the table, and they stopped talking about it.
After breakfast, Shuvo went to sit in the garden of his house and called Pari again.
When Pari answered, Shuvo asked,
"Have you finished your breakfast?"
Pari said,
"Yes."
Shuvo then asked,
"Is your phone just a basic button phone?"
Pari replied,
"Yes."
He asked again,
"Are you going to college today?"
Pari said,
"No, today I have to help my mother in the tea garden."
Hearing this, Shuvo was surprised and said,
"You work in the garden?"
Pari answered simply,
"Yes. We are poor people—we have to work to earn our living."
Hearing her words made Shuvo feel very sad. Deep inside, he thought,
"I should start working in my father's company… then I can do something for her family."
Noticing that Shuvo had gone quiet, Pari asked,
"Now that you know about my situation… will you stop talking to me?"
Shuvo immediately replied,
"What are you saying? I came closer to you knowing everything. I like you for who you are—why would that change?"
Then Shuvo said softly,
"Will you meet me today? If we meet, you'll be able to know me better."
Pari replied,
"I have college tomorrow… let's meet then."
Shuvo smiled and said,
"Alright."
After saying goodbye, they ended the call.
Later, Shuvo made a decision—
he would buy a smartphone for Pari and give it to her as a gift when they met.
