Chapter 9 - THE TRAP TIGHTENS

Ayla could not sit still.

Lina's words kept echoing in her mind, repeating again and again like a warning she could not ignore.

It is about survival.

The sentence felt heavier with every second.

This was no longer just about a contract. No longer just about Zayn.

There was something bigger.

Something dangerous.

And somehow... she was already part of it.

"You are thinking too much."

Zayn's voice broke the silence.

Ayla did not turn immediately. She knew he was watching her, studying her reactions the way he always did.

"I am trying to understand," she replied quietly.

Zayn stepped closer, his presence instantly filling the space around her.

"Understanding is overrated," he said.

"In my world, you either survive... or you do not."

Ayla finally turned to face him.

"Then maybe you should stop keeping me in the dark," she said.

For a moment, his expression did not change.

But something shifted in his eyes.

Something colder.

"You think knowing the truth will help you?" he asked.

Ayla did not hesitate this time.

"Yes."

Zayn let out a slow breath, his gaze never leaving hers.

"No," he said calmly. "It will destroy you."

The words sent a chill through her.

But she refused to step back.

"Then let it," she said.

Silence.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

Zayn moved suddenly, closing the distance between them in one step. His hand gripped her wrist, pulling her closer before she could react.

"You are not ready for that," he said, his voice low.

Ayla's heart pounded, but she held his gaze.

"Stop deciding that for me," she replied.

Before Zayn could respond, a loud noise echoed from outside.

Both of them froze.

Another sound followed.

Closer this time.

Not normal.

Not safe.

Zayn's entire demeanor changed in an instant.

The calm control disappeared, replaced by something sharper.

More dangerous.

"Stay here," he said.

But Ayla shook her head immediately.

"No."

Zayn's eyes narrowed.

"This is not a request."

"And I am not leaving," she replied.

For a brief moment, they stared at each other.

Then Zayn turned without another word.

And Ayla followed.

The hallway felt colder as they moved, tension building with every step. Voices echoed from downstairs, loud and urgent.

When they reached the main hall, Ayla stopped.

Her breath caught.

Men stood inside the mansion.

Strangers.

Armed.

Their presence filled the entire space with danger.

Ayla instinctively stepped back.

"What is happening?" she whispered.

Zayn moved slightly in front of her.

Protecting her without even thinking.

One of the men stepped forward, his expression calm but calculated.

"We came to talk," he said.

Zayn's gaze darkened.

"You should have stayed outside if that was true," he replied.

The air shifted instantly.

Tension rising.

Breaking.

Everything happened too fast.

Ayla barely had time to react as movement exploded across the room.

Voices turned into shouts. The atmosphere turned violent in seconds.

Zayn moved first.

Fast.

Precise.

Dangerous.

He blocked her view again, keeping her behind him as chaos unfolded. She could not see everything, but she could hear it.

The impact.

The struggle.

The danger.

Her heart raced uncontrollably.

This was real.

Not a threat.

Not a warning.

Reality.

For the first time, fear settled deep inside her.

Not just fear of Zayn.

But fear of the world he belonged to.

And then...

She understood.

Lina was right.

This was not about power.

Not about control.

It was about survival.

Because standing there, surrounded by danger, Ayla realized something that made her chest tighten.

She was no longer just watching this world.

She was trapped inside it.

And there was no way out.
