Kyle was taken back from what she said, he quickly composed himself. "How do you know me?" peering his eyes at her deliberating whether she was a threat
"Who won't know you? Don't you know you're quiet famous for being the pompous son of Cerci."
Kyle relaxed his guard after confirming she wasn't a threat. He hadn't given time to think what it ment for him to be Cerci's kid. "That still doesn't explain why you're here
Jasmine took a sip from the drink she had picked, studying Kyle. She continued" I came here to see for myself if the rumors are true."
"What rumors?" Kyle asked, wondering if the rumors was about what happened between him and Ronald.
" People say, Cerci's son is cocky and has a lot of guts. Not many people can stand up to Sir Elijah and Sir Ronald like you did." she paused to drop the empty glass on the table "but you look more indifferent than cocky to me"
They talked for a while, Jasmine told Kyle about House Valerie and Stormcove Academy. Kyle kept asking her some questions but didn't pester her when she took time to answer.
He did this so she won't suspect that he was drawing information out of her. At the end of the talk, he was a little bit disappointed when he learnt she was a fresher and so didn't know much about the school but he did learn that the entrance examination was coming up soon.
Olivia kept glancing at Kyle and Jasmine through out their talk, 'He seems to be having fun with her. He never smiled at me like that.' She got distracted and stepped on Yadel's foot, causing her to lose balance. Yadel caught her, grabbing her by her waist to cover up her falling, making it look like it was part of the dance.
Above the hall, Cerci stood at the balcony, looking down at it. She had left soon after Curtis gave his speech. She didn't like being near the nobles, her disdain for them came with the fact that she saw the as hypocrites, with a few exceptions.
"I knew I'll find you here" Zayne said, giving Cerci one of the drinks he brought. "What's your excuse this time around"
Taking a sip of the drink she replied "I just didn't feel like it."
Zayne was one of the few people Cerci enjoy being with. Since they were kids, Zayne had cared for her like she was his little sister. She was really grateful for that, looking back now, she didn't know she would have survive all those years without him by her side.
They stood for there, no one spoke to the other. "Could you do me a favor?" Cerci said, finally breaking the silence.
"If it's within my ability, I'll do it" Zayne replied.
Cerci let the wind blow against her face, pushing a loose strand of hair back her ear "Can you let Kyle live here for some time." she let out, turning her head to see his reaction.
Taken aback by the question, Zayne took some time to reply "Sure, but where is this coming from"
Cerci took a deep breath, the explained to Zayne what had happened to Kyle, she didn't explain to him the part where Kyle had meet the dark lord. " I was afraid of losing him Zayne. I didn't know what to do if I had lost him, so please can you let him stay here until I know it's safe for him" She couldn't hold back the emotions that swelled inside her, resting her head on Zayne's chest she cried.
Zayne's embraced her, allowing her tears to soak his suit. When she had calm down he comforted her "You did your best Cerci, I promise I won't let anything happen to him"
"Thanks, thanks for everything you've done for me, I really appreciate it" Cerci said, releasing herself from his arms.
"No need to thank me, that's what family is for". He handed her a cloth to dry her face with. "Does he knows that he's not going back"
"I haven't told him yet but I tell him this night when I'm leaving"
Back in the hall, the crowd went silent when the king stood up holding a drink in his hand. "As the guest of honor and a friend of his I would like to celebrate the retirement of Sir Ronald... facing Ronald now he continued" Ronald my good friend, the kingdom of Bain and her citizens are truly grateful for the all you have done for us, toast to your retirement " the king said taking a sip. The crowds erupted into cheers and applause.
The party continued till midnight, the royal family were the first to leave followed by the rest. Each giving Ronald a gift as they went.
The servants of the Lucas cleaned the hall when all the visitors had left.
Kyle went straight to his room, exhausted from the event. As he was about to lay down on his bed a knock came from the door. Annoyed, he went to open it. He had expected to see Olivia so he was surprised when Luke came up.
"Dad said to meet him in his study" not wasting, Luke lead Kyle to where the study was. Leaving Kyle at the door he headed back to his room.
"Come in" Zayne's said from inside the room.
When Kyle entered, he saw Zayne's rubbing his temples behind the desk and Cerci sitting on one of the two sits available.
"Have a seat" gesturing at the seat by his left.
"Kyle" he started solemn when Kyle had sat down "How had your stay here been"
"It was nice" he said
Zayne then explained to him what he and Cerci had discussed at the balcony. Through out their conversation Cerci didn't speak.
When Zayne was done, Cerci chipped in saying that it was only for the time being and when things were ok, he would come back if he wanted.
Kyle didn't liked the idea of staying here, but he accepted it since Zayne stated that he would be joining Olivia and Luke next year at Stormcove.
He was elated but didn't show it, keeping a solemn expression.
Having agreed on the issue, they excorted Cerci outside where she bade them goodbye and left.
