The woman made it obvious that what he said was about, when she glanced in my direction. She had lowered her gaze when our eyes met.
She wrote something down on the tablet in her hands.
After Duncan had debriefed them on what to expect, Wilbeck led them to a door, connecting to a vast collidor where they walked fir a while, coming to a halt infront of ano door.
Wilbeck knocked on the door, a voice responded from inside. Then we were led through the door, into a vast hall filled with desks.
We were arranged according to our serial number, so I got placed in between a beast folk and an elf.
The voice that responded, introduced herself as Solane. She gave u some instructions, as he handed out the papers.
This was the written phase of the exam. The questions asked where only on the basis of what I had studied, making the exam a piece of cake.
Everyone was surprised when I turned in my papers, thirty minutes into the exam. Solane was reluctant to collect it at first, thinking maybe I didn't know it and had given up on it.
The written phase lasted for about two more hours. Students looked gloomy when they stepped out of the hall.
Wilbeck returned from where he had gone, and led us through a series of corridors, to another hall.
This one was different from the former. There were no chairs but instead a large crystal that stood on a platform in the middle of the room. The crystal was connected with wires to a device.
The man behind the crystal, Gunner, explained that the crystal would measure the potency of our mana when we placed our hands on it and channel mana to it.
"Just put your hand on the crystal and channel as much mana as you can into it" He said.
He demonstrated for us, folding his white cot above his elbow, he placed his right arm on the crystal and released mana into it. The crystal glowed faint yellow and the device displayed a value of 765.
A red-hair girl went first, channeling her mana into it, the crystal glow orange, showing a score of 734.
"That's impressive" Gunner commented, touching his pale green hair. He brought his glasses down and wrote her score down on a tablet.
The common scores where from 500 to 600, with some scoring 700
There was once someone who scored 850, Gunner couldn't contain his shock, and left his mouth opened. Now how was he supposed to act when a silver-hair boy came to take his assessment.
The crystal blinded everyone with its white light, cracks began forming on it as sound of glass breaking, echoed through the hall. When the light had dimmed, all eyes focused on Kyle as everyone waited in suspense for the device to calculate his score. Seconds passed and the device was not done calculating his score, then it displayed it.
Gunner couldn't believe what he saw, he never thought the rumors of people achieving this score was possible, but here was someone who had gotten it.
The hall was dead silent, people didn't know how to react. It just wasn't possible. Here was a boy had a score of 1045, and yet didn't bait an eye. He sighed in disbelief, like he was expecting to get something higher.
When Kyle came down from the platform, everyone made way for him to pass, no one dared to approach him, not even the instructors.
'Who is this kid ' gunner thought as Kyle walked out of the hall. The crystal had to be changed, since the last one was badly damaged. Rumors spread fast between the staffs and students of a mysterious boy, who destroyed the assessment crystal.
Headmaster Duncan received the news of what happened from his secretary who rushed into his office telling him about it
"Sir, I don't think the rumors are true" she voiced out her thoughts.
He chuckled a bit "If the rumors weren't true then why are they bringing another crystal to the hall" referring to the porters below the window of his office.
When she had gone, he messaged his temples, "You never cease to amaze me" talking to the person that sat infront of the desk
Kyle left the hall when he had taken his assessment, to escape the prying eyes of the instructors, now he was lost.
'I really done it, and on my first day'. He crammed the map in his hand and trashed it.
He had tried to use mana sense to find his way around the school but he couldn't recognize any mana signature he felt.
That's when he felt it, the strong mana signature he had felt with Olivia's, it was coming towards him. He raised his head and say a girl around his age approach him.
"Do you need any help"
