Chapter 9 - Saturday

Liam took a deep breath.

He found it hard to refuse, but he didn't want to look foolish by going to a neighbor's house so early in the morning.

(Forget it!) he replied.

He sat back on his bed, monitoring Poppon's chart.

Even a coin like this—so unclear and unconvincing—could surge so drastically. He couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he created a meme coin himself.

As long as he didn't scam, there might be a chance for it to become a major coin.

From just a passing thought, he quickly came to a decision—he needed to try it.

He began thinking about the name and what kind of image it should have.

The concept was, of course, the most important part. Creating it itself was very easy now. There were plenty of applications that could generate coins instantly, even without capital. The real cost was promotion—pushing the price early so it could pass the graduation stage.

Still, coming up with an idea wasn't easy.

Liam couldn't think of anything yet and decided to postpone it. Maybe he would ask Jack later.

Since his house only had one bathroom, he had to step out to shower.

His mother was still exercising, looking very focused.

She didn't even seem to notice him passing by.

The water felt extremely cold that morning. Liam only showered briefly before returning to his room to get dressed.

It was Saturday—naturally, there were no classes.

The weekend.

That was why Liam could take his mother to the hospital.

"Mom, we'll have breakfast outside, then go to the hospital to consult about your supplements," Liam said as he stepped out of his room again.

"Alright…" the woman nodded, no longer refusing.

"By the way, Liam, your uncle just sent a message asking if he could borrow 5,000 dollars. Mm… actually, I accidentally told him you bought an expensive car in cash because he was bragging about a luxury watch that turned out to be fake."

Liam rolled his eyes when he heard that.

His mother had a younger brother, Alan Hemsworth—a man who considered himself perfect because he held a deputy manager position at his company.

It was indeed a good job, with a monthly salary of 7,000 dollars.

He liked to show off, but he had never been very helpful. At most, he had only given them 150 dollars—and that was when they were truly struggling.

Otherwise, nothing.

"Why does he need 5,000 dollars? Doesn't he have any savings left?" Liam asked.

"He said his money is locked in the bank and can't be withdrawn… but maybe he actually lost it at a casino. He wants to borrow money because his daughter is throwing a tantrum, demanding an iPhone and a MacBook. She even threatened to run away from home if her request isn't granted."

Liam didn't know how to react to that.

Linda Hemsworth, only seventeen, dreamed of becoming a famous influencer—but unfortunately, her account wasn't growing, still stuck at around 2,000 followers.

Liam had long seen signs that she wouldn't turn out well—and now it was proving true.

"Liam, it's up to you," Diana said, sounding slightly awkward since this situation was caused by her.

"Let's visit them later after we go to the hospital," Liam replied.

He already had hundreds of thousands of dollars. He didn't like that man or his daughter, but they were still his close family.

"You're going to lend him money? You know, that's not a small amount, and who knows whether he'll repay it…" Diana looked quite surprised.

"It's fine…" Liam smiled.

"In that case, I'll go shower first…" The woman went to the bathroom, while Liam stepped into the yard and started warming up the car.

Since it was a holiday, there was more activity among the residents—some were exercising, others heading out to fish at the river beside the neighborhood.

Of course, there were also a few people returning from somewhere, looking disheveled.

Liam hadn't even warmed up the car for three minutes when he saw Luna approaching, looking fresh, her hair tied in a ponytail, wearing short pants and a tight black shirt.

As usual, she was the center of attention in the neighborhood. Even the older men stared at her, let alone the younger ones.

The difference was—today, she walked toward Liam.

Something she had never done before.

She had never approached anyone in this neighborhood, perhaps thinking they were all beneath her.

"Good morning, Liam. You must have slept very well last night. What are your plans today?" she said softly.

People around them clicked their tongues in disapproval. The older ones seemed to silently criticize how far morality had declined—young, yet already behaving like a divorced woman with children.

"I'm taking my mom to the hospital for a consultation, then going to my uncle's house. I'm pretty busy today," Liam replied.

"Oh…" Luna couldn't hide her disappointment.

"I thought we could go out," she said, glancing into the car before adding, "That's a really nice car."

"Maybe tonight…" Liam said before he could stop himself.

The disappointment on Luna's face instantly disappeared, replaced by a bright gleam in her eyes.

"Really?" she said.

"Alright, I'll wait for you tonight. See you…" She left, clearly energized.

"Liam, was that Luna just now?" Diana asked as she stepped out of the house.

She looked simple in a long skirt and a casual shirt, carrying a handbag—but she was full of elegance.

Her mature charm drew even more admiration.

She attracted attention without even trying.

"Yeah, she was just passing by," Liam replied casually.

"Mom, let's get in!" Liam quickly opened the passenger door for her.

The woman looked slightly awkward as she got into the car, clearly not used to something this luxurious.

After sitting down, she fastened her seatbelt.

Liam then quickly got into the driver's seat.

They drove out of the neighborhood.

The weekend made the streets quieter, but the sidewalks were crowded with people jogging.

Liam drove at a steady pace toward a large hospital in the city center.

Of course, the hospital operated without pause.

In fact, weekends often brought even more visitors.

People came to visit their sick family members.

The lobby was quite crowded.

Liam requested VIP service at the reception, which required a high upfront payment.

But with that, he was immediately escorted to meet the specialist who handled his mother.

The doctor was already old, and he could only be surprised seeing the mother and son—just days ago, they had struggled to gather money for treatment, and now they came as VIP patients.

When they met the doctor, Liam spoke briefly.

He said he wanted his mother to fully recover—and that he would pay whatever it took.

In the end, the old doctor simply recommended a supplement that cost 50 dollars per pill.
