Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The Number of Players Clearing the Game Skyrockets!

Many people once again sighed in amazement at how terrifying Silent Hill was, then naturally began discussing the plot, inevitably launching into another wave of criticism toward the male protagonist.

Although the plot of Silent Hill was quite simple, it felt far too close to real life.

After all, tragedies like this were not uncommon in reality!

At the same time, some netizens gave Benjamin a big thumbs up.

"I have to say, the Youtuber is seriously impressive!"

"The later loops got more and more terrifying each time, yet the Youtuber managed to power through them all!"

"Yeah, especially that part where he had to stare at the little ghost girl without making a sound. That was truly pushing the limits of human physiology!"

"This player from the U.S really has huge guts. Respect!" This comment came from a Chinese player.

"Congratulations to Benjamin for becoming the first player to clear Silent Hill!"

"I'm so envious. He gets to play New World's next game ahead of everyone else!"

Everyone could tell from the video that although the game was short, the puzzles had some real difficulty to them.

It required countless attempts and failures to successfully clear it, and every failure meant another intimate encounter with the female ghost.

Benjamin had probably been killed by the ghost wife countless times.

This was definitely not something an ordinary person could endure.

"Hey, Lucien! Lucien!"

Early in the morning, while Lucien was still sound asleep under his blanket, Jenny suddenly burst into his bedroom and shouted in panic.

"What's wrong?"

Lucien rubbed his eyes and asked drowsily while still lying in bed.

He had been busy coding these past few days. Today he finally got to sleep in, but Jenny had woken him up bright and early.

Thanks to the growing popularity of Silent Hill, the amount of Astonishment points he had collected had already reached tens of millions.

These amazement points were more than enough to create an entirely new large-scale VR game.

Right now, the game files for Subnautica had already been generated in his computer by consuming Astonishment points.

This saved him from the lengthy process of building a large game from scratch.

If he had to code and design the graphics for this game all by himself, it would probably take several years to complete.

That was why Lucien would rather spend more Astonishment points and let the simulator handle the entire production process in one go.

However, having the game files generated wasn't enough. He still needed to personally adjust and modify the specific details of Subnautica to better fit this world's setting.

He had been busy with exactly that these past few days.

"It's like this. Last night someone posted a clear walkthrough video for Silent Hill PT! It's spreading all over the internet now!"

Jenny exclaimed as she placed her phone in front of Lucien. The phone was currently playing Benjamin's clear video.

"Heh, someone cleared it this quickly!" Lucien sped up the video and watched it for a bit before smiling.

"Not bad, not bad at all. This uploader called Benjamin is pretty brave. He's most likely a autistic or a retarded."

The corner of Jenny's mouth twitched. "Is it really okay to say that about your loyal player?"

"I'm just telling the truth," Lucien shrugged. "I made the game myself. Of course I know that anyone who can clear it must enjoy being tortured."

"Let me take a look."

Lucien got out of bed, turned on his computer, and logged into Steam's backend to check Silent Hill's player achievements.

"Whoa, not bad. So far, over a thousand people have already cleared it!" Lucien exclaimed. "And most of them are U.S players."

"Wow, over a thousand people?! That's a lot all of a sudden!" Jenny was also surprised.

Lucien checked further. "Yeah, there was about a seven or eight hour gap between the first and second players to clear it."

"It looks like Lucien really was the first one to clear the game, and the other thousand-plus players probably managed it after watching his strategy video!"

"That makes sense," Jenny laughed. "After all, you promised that the first fifty players to clear the game would get early access to your next game."

"Now that the strategy video is out, players will definitely do everything they can to clear it quickly so they can be among the top fifty."

Lucien nodded. "You're right."

"So Lucien, do you want to contact the top fifty players?" Jenny asked.

"Why would I contact them?" Lucien countered.

Jenny was stunned. "Huh? Wasn't that your promise? Or does that mean your new game isn't ready yet?"

Although Jenny played games, she was a complete novice when it came to game development, so she had no idea how long it actually took or how much manpower and resources were needed to develop a game.

After seeing her brother single-handedly create Silent Hill, she chose to trust him unconditionally without any doubt.

If Lucien said he could do it, then he definitely could.

Hearing Jenny's words, Lucien smiled slightly. "When I made that promise, I specifically said it was for the first fifty players who achieve a perfect clear of Silent Hill."

"Perfect clear?" Jenny was stunned. "Does that mean Benjamin's run wasn't a perfect clear?!"
